View Full Version : Star Wars Episode 2 Nudity and Violence?

Uh-oh! Looks like George Lucas is considering throwing in nudity and violence to the awaited prequel #2 and it may wind up R Rated in the states (Because, as everyone knows, Canada is a bit looser on the rating system)
Apparently, Lucas wants there to be a steamy sex scene between Anakin (Hayden) and Amidala (Natalie Portman), which as my source for Nat News, CHI of www.natalie-portman.net, (http://www.natalie-portman.net,) says "may show some Royal Nipple."
Also, some other leaked plots, is the Assassination of Jar Jar Binks (Which we've all anticipated) and a scene where Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) supposebly rapes Anakin's poor ole' mom.
I personally think he'll cut it short or really soften it because the movie industry is out to MAKE MONEY and how many viewers will there be if you cut out the child fanbase?
What do you think?

Whoa, everything you've just mentioned sort of comes off as a pretty big shock. I seriously doubt the movie will feature any nudity at all. As we all know, Lucas is a filmmaker first and businessman second, he wouldn't dare risk giving Episode II an "R" rating, knowing that he has a valuable fan base with the under 17 market. It just doesn't make sense. Like you mentioned, he'll probably sell it very short, nothing graphic.
As for Jar Jar getting assasinated, you can bet I'll be the first one clapping in the audiences once they whack that royal pain in the ass.
Mace Windu...Jedi rapist? I kinda doubt that one too. Seems a little sinister introducing a rape element to the Star Wars Trilogy.
I'd be skeptical about net rumours on Episode #2, alot of stuff out there is bogus.

LOL thats some of the funniest shit I've heard in a while. A Jedi Rape scene! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
What's next? Han Solo drinking and flying the Millenium Falcon

That will ruin the Star Wars movies as we know them. The "first" three were classic and introducing that shit would absolutly FRY them. That's a nasty and incredibly stupid idea.

Hmm... somehow I doubt the sources on that one. Episode I was a fine example of how Lucas is now trying to target "younger" audiences so it's doubtful that any of those scenes will be seen.
As far as Han Solo "drinking and driving"... what do you think he has doing at the bar prior to leaving with Luke and Obi-Wan? /ubb/biggrin.gif

Somehow I doubt the validity of your sources, sir.
Natalie to show royal nipple? Where did this Chi person originally purloin this provocative little spoiler?

Don't allow yourself to be had. Don't believe all that you read on-line. Most of it is bogus.

Actually, the sources isn't just on the internet. I also heard it on the news radio stations "640 News" which is available here in Toronto and it's regions.

Episode 1 was nothing more than a blown-up special-effects hype-machine that was made to generate toy paraphenilia sales...it was void of any of the worthwhile content that made the first three films good...ANYTHING, including nudity, sex & violence, would be a welcome change from the steaming heap of bile that was Episode 1...

Methinks that's a big crock of...yeah. I know Lucas said he wanted Ep. II to be "darker" than Ep. I, but I think that's a little much. And the nudity wouldn't be too bad a thing, just as long as Jar-Jar keeps his clothes on. I hope they run that critter through with a light saber.

If a DJ anywhere actually said that they "heard" that Natalie is going to bare her breasts in Episode 2, then we've got a lot of horny DJs engaged in some wishful thinking.
No official source has ever reported this nonsense. Only a bunch of would-be adolescents who've never gotten close to a woman could ever report such silliness. Natalie is not going to drop her top in Episode 2. She wouldn't even do "Anywhere But Here" with Susan Sarandon until the director removed a planned love scene between Nat's character and her boyfriend.
Dream on, my friend. Dream on. Natalie is not a nude scene kind of actress.

Ok, I actually went to the site to read the article and appearantly, i-film stated that they "intercepted" a secret memo from Lucas Arts with all these plot lines in it. It sounds to me like it's a bullshit scam to get people to go to the i-film site. Officials for Lucas Arts have already stated that this isn't true, and I'd hardly believe it was true myself. I don't believe that an actor with so much respect from his fans would choose to play a man who rapes Anakin's mother. Also, while I fully support adding naked women in just about everything, I think the Star Wars epic will have to go with those movies that I think should have nothing to do with such crass things. Anyways, don't believe the hype and don't go watch Vertical Limit!

Alright, I didn't mean any offense to any Natalie Portman fans. I personally am one, but this was just some news I thought of posting. I'm not some 'horny adolescent.' I just thought it might be interesting to see what other's thoughts were on this.
And I know Natalie Portman refuses to show nudity. I don't blame her. Who'd want billions of people watching them around the world nude? I wouldn't.
So my apologies to anyone who took offense to this post. It did spawn a hellovalot of replies though.
And I know that this is a crock of shit, so don't worry. Lucas, as I said, would never do things such as this, except for maybe the assassination of Jar Jar. ;-)
My apologies,

Lets not forget that Star Wars was and always will be, a kids movie, a world of fantasy and adventure. to change it would be a criminal act.
With regard to all the Jar Jar bashing, remember again that the Phantom Menace is a kids movie, therefore it was important to have a character that would appeal to the kids. I doubt if there was anyone under the age of ten who did'nt like Jar Jar, and that is what is important.
Remember, in the original trilogy, many fans found R2-D2 and C3PO irritating and stupid. Also many fans found Yoda ridiculous and annoying, an the Ewoks (who I also hate) were also loathed by some.
give Jar Jar a chance, he may be a bit annoying, but he grows on you, trust me.

Yo, WitchProject, no need to apologize for wishful thinking. I was attacking the source, not you. If wishful thinking of a prurient nature were a crime I've committed more than a few infractions where Ewan McGregor is concerned (wink, wink--never a joke about him appearing nude /ubb/biggrin.gif)--to which my husband can attest as he bonks me on the head and replaces my desktop with pictures of Seven of Nine in that painted on uniform.
I, personally, would not judge Natalie negatively if she appeared nude in a film; it's just that she has stated emphatically that she is uncomfortable with that sort of thing. That's why I was thinking--uh huh, yep, sure she's going to drop the top. She's a fine actress in my opinion who could stand to buck the Hollywood trend and put about 10 pounds on her lovely frame. The girl would look like a young Ava Gardner if she had some meat on her bony little bones.
Whomever reported that he "intercepted" this information *is* engaging in some salacious bit of wishful rumor mongering, however. I think it's kind of funny that someone would rumor about Natalie appearing topless considering that the poor skinny little thing has nothing to see. That's why Cameron Diaz irritated the crap out of me in "Charlie's Angels." Everyone talked about how funny and sexy she was and I thought.....how can she be in a jiggle movie? She's too skinny to jiggle.

Daisy...you gotta admit that Cameron Diaz looked hellasexy comin' outta the water in that wetsuit...I'm thinking "Dr. No"?...more like Dr. Goodhead...
I'm really not all that interested in seeing Natalie Portman's Led Zeppelin's...she will always be the little girl with the plant in Luc Besson's "The Professional"...however on the topic of future Star Wars releases, I wish they would take a hint from other old films being re-released and go back to their roots...quit with the stupid experimental sci-fi crap...and I would love if they would stop over-producing the special effects sequences and spend that time creating an effecting storyline that really sucks us in...if that means nudity and violence, so be it...
Daisy
11-30-2000, 03:44 PM
No, I do not have to admit she looked sexy.
She is too thin and looks completely unhealthy. SHE HAS NO CURVES.
What is it with men these days that they enjoy looking at women with bodies shaped like young boys? At least my husband drools over women with breasts and hips, not sticks like Cameron, Gwyneth, and Callista. Drew and Lucy, yes, Cameron, no. She could be the poster child for malnourishment.

Well, Natalie Portman is skinny, but she always has been. She's not particularily chesty, which I personally think is great. And I agree, lots of girls would look better if they put on some weight. But I still think she's downright beautiful and her petite figure goes right with her.

Oh, Natalie is gorgeous no doubt. Did you catch her in "Where the Heart Is?" One of the loveliest and classiest young actresses around. She has always been on the thin side, though.
Brock Landers
11-30-2000, 05:38 PM
Where the heart is? Isn't that some chick flick at Walmart...very lame flick...and are you using a pregnant Natalie Portman to convince us that she is pretty? I don't particularly like skinny women, but I don't want them fat neither...Lucy Liu is voluptuous? What? Drew has a little baby pudge goin' on but Lucy "Martial-Arts Uber-Muscle Babe" Liu is Voluptuous? I don't think so...I agree about Gwyneth being way too skinny...
Back to Star Wars...I don't think Natalie Portman is particularly voluptuous either, nor should she be...the point is that nudity & violence could not hurt the series...hell, most PG-13 films these days have shots of nudity, tons o' profanity and plenty of violence...a nipple here and a buttcheek there wouldn't hurt anybody now and then...
Daisy
11-30-2000, 06:00 PM
I am not "using" a pregnant Natalie Portman to convince anyone she's pretty. She's not pregnant for 90% of the film and I suspect that you would find any "chick flick" (translation: non-porn where more than one main character is a female) lame, Brock. You remind me of that guy I dated before I got married that looked at me with genuine bewilderment on his face as we sat down in the theater to watch "Steel Magnolias" which I had picked out for my birthday movie.
"You mean this movie is about *women?* Why would I watch a film about women?" He was truly bewildered.
Natalie doesn't need me to campaign for her. She's more than beautiful. She's classy and understated in the old style of Ava Gardner and a young Elizabeth Taylor--both of whom weighed more than 105 pounds soaking wet. Yes, Lucy is healthier looking than Cameron the bony shoulder queen. Lucy's body isn't great, but at least she looks like a woman. As for Gwyneth--oh geez, don't get me started on how skinny she is. Mena Suvari as well. I was thinking, "Why would Kevin Spacey f*ck her?" He'd be too busy counting her ribs.
A nipple and a buttcheek would be rather irksome for a Star Wars film, don't you think? If George is going to include nudity he can showcase his male cast. Forget about the girls. The guys are the ones with the muscle tone.

In reference to "Steel Magnolia's":
This is a woman's picture. - Roger Ebert
Thusly, being a woman's picture, I as a MAN found it boring and dull…not to mention the fact that I hate Julia Roberts…film's like "Driving Miss Daisy" & "Fried Green Tomatoes" may be good films, but I have absolutely no interest in seeing them…
In reference to "Where The Heart Is" and Natalie Portman.
From Leonard Maltin's Movie &
Video Guide.
Billie Letts' novel probably made
more sense than this numbingly
scattershot script about an
abandoned, ill-educated young
woman (a miscast Portman) and
the circle of friends who nurture her
after she gives birth in a Wal-Mart.
A near-fatal twister? The baby's
kidnapping? The rocky
country-and-western career of the
baby's father? Everything here is
given equal weight, and the
episodic scenes pile up without any
cumulative effect. Feature directing
debut for the creator-producer of
such hit TV sitcoms as Roseanne
and Home Improvement.

Apparently I'm not the only one who thought this film was lame…
Mena Suvari is not all that great either, but she has a pretty face and some nice puffies…
Irksome?…no, I don't think it would be tiresome, fatiguing or annoying to actually make Star Wars better… just as long as there are no sex scenes including Jar Jar Binks…

Oink, oink, oink.............heaven knows us girls never go to see or enjoy a MAN'S picture.
Oink, oink, squeeeeeeal.........
BTW, Brock, it's a free country. If you didn't like "Where the Heart Is," it's no problem. Dismissing it out of hand as a "chick" movie and deciding not to like it for that reason alone is a bit narrow minded. I didn't think it was the greatest film, myself. One of the best films I've seen lately is Quills, certainly not your touchy feely fare.
But like I said, it's a free country.

Irksome...IRKsome...hmmm...irkSOME...er...irksomE. ..iRksome...I like that...I will add it to my vocabulary...thanks flower girl...PS: I really dug you on "Dukes Of Hazzard" (smile)
I think Geoffrey Rush is a great actor and am looking forward to Quills...I like most foreign "chick flicks", but cannot stand Hollywood versions aka Goldie Hawn, Julia Roberts, Bette Midler, Cher, etc...
I am open-minded...tell me why "Where The Heart Is" is not a chick flick...I may change my mind...besides I like David Keith or Keith David whatever...
Daisy
12-01-2000, 02:52 PM
Not a chick flick because it concerns itself with the growth of a human being...it's not just a girl's sappy quest to trap herself a man. Men experience personal journeys in film, why not women? Just because it focuses on a woman doesn't necessarily make a film unworthy. I only mentioned "Where the Heart Is" because it was a film in which Natalie gave a nice performance and looked quite beautiful. Overall it wasn't that high on my list of favorite films.
The Dukes of Hazzard? Oh, I get it. Daisy is just my husband's nickname for me, though. I have a boy's name.
As far as the European babes go, North American actors of both genders seem to be losing out to thespians on the other side of pond all over the place when it comes to being an actor as opposed to a movie star.
Edward Norton is the only American actor under 40 that impresses me. Then there's DeNiro, Duvall, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Hume Cronyn, and.......gosh, do you count Anthony Hopkins? He was born across the pond. Portman, Sarandon, Glenn Close, Angela Bassett, Sally Field, Shirely MacLaine and who else for the ladies? And this is coming from a huuuuuuge pool of so-called talent.
Overseas on the quality thespian's list: Geoffrey Rush, Liam Neeson, Stephen Rea, Daniel Day Lewis, Ewan McGregor, Jude Law, Jonny Lee Miller, Ian McDiarmid, Alan Rickman, Heath Ledger, the aforementioned Hopkins, Michael Caine, Ian Holm, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Issacs, Robert Carlyle, Albert Finney, Kate Winslet, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branaugh, Helena Bonham Carter, Susan Lynch, Janet McTeer, Ioan Gruffud, and the list goes on.
Come to think of it, Julia Roberts isn't a very good actress, is she?

"The Growth Of A Human Being"...sounds like a sex-ed film I saw in high school...actually, I can dig what you are saying about both genders being allowed "personal growth" in flicks...One such film I loved about a young woman's coming of age was "XIU XIU: The Sent Down Girl" directed by Joan Chen...I guess I am more against the "star' mentality of American actresses like Julia Roberts and what they stand for and what their films say...which is...NADA...
let me guess...hmmm...STAN?...no...er...um...GEORGE?...no ...I bet your name is ENGLEBERT HUMPERDINK...yeah...that's the ticket...now i see the need for the "Daisy" cover...
All I'm trying to say is that if "Goodfellas" had a largely female cast, it would not have been so popular with guys...therefore, when the stars of a film are female, I sometimes lose interest in the subject matter...not always, just sometimes (like when the storyline involves Wal-Mart and rural states)...

You've seen Xiu Xiu? Now there's a film I wouldn't have expected you to mention.
So if a film has an all female cast it dissuades you? An all male cast doesn't dissuade me. Brock, you show promise but you're still a chauvanist at heart. So how come if you're soooooo dissuaded by an all female cast you rushed out to see Charlie's Angels with the incredibly amazing stick girl? I'm still making my husband pay for dragging me to that T&A (on Drew's part, Cameron has *none.*) crapfest. Even hubby complained that Cameron looked like the poster child for anorexia. I *told* him we should have seen Jennifer Lopez in "The Cell" at the dollar movie.
