Just now I phoned my local Choice Video to see if they had a certain movie in stock. Well, guess what? The woman at the other end said that she won't talk to me and doesn't care if I find it or not.

So I did the right thing--I said "Fuck you!" and hung up. /ubb/smile.gif

So, you got rocks of steel. This is sorta off topic, but does relate to movies. It isn't as good as telling a clerk to fuck herself, but hey, it's close.

Yesterday I'm on my way home from Swordfish and I got this asshole in a Toyota behind me. TAILGATING. He's within an inch and I tried a brake test. (Hey, you see my nickname. I try to act like Griswald on a daily basis! /ubb/biggrin.gif) He didn't like that. He passes me, and when he gets in front of me, he misses my front bumper by under a half inch! :MAD: I roll down my window (it's still daylight) and, as a textbook example outta National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, slam the horn on him for a good 15 seconds and give him the finger! /ubb/biggrin.gif I expected to see a gun after I tailgated him in return, but no, I got his license plate number and he got off somewhere.

I dunno. BTW Cyclonus, was this girl from Superstar Video, West Coast Video, Blockbuster Video, or Kiss My WhiteTrash Ass Video? /ubb/biggrin.gif

Do you know what this guy did? I don't mean to be a TOTAL asshole, but Lindsey, you represent all that I hate in this world for working at Hollywood Video. Hollywood Video is the biggest WHORE in the world, next to Blockbuster Video. FUCK HOLLYWOOD VIDEO!!!

Just so ya know, I work for City Video in Boston, MA. It's a small business and a great video store ... Hollywood just moved in close-by and is raping us like a 15 year old cheerleader! I'm going to firebomb that store.

Anyhoo, rude video store clerks are awful. I used to work for Movie Gallery and I went out of my way to be rude to customers because I wanted to get fired. They didn't like it - but I thought it was so much fun.

We're cocky because we control your entertainment. Without us, Video Store Clerks, there is no Video Watching, therefore, no entertainment for those nights you just wanna watch videos. I hate myself for being a video store clerk, but I love the job!

I actually PREFER Blockbuster clerks to my small hometown ones. All the little weirdos working the small store look like they want to kill me or something for interrupting their fucking-off time. I like the smaller videostores because they have "adult" sections. Blockbuster and Hollywood are way too censored. Although Hollywood is not nearly as crappy (or fascist) as Blockbuster. Blockbuster stands for all that I hate in this world. Right next to Starbucks, The Gap & those goddamn Bed, bath & Beyond stores. Down with Conformity! Viva La Independents!

I would guess, for the same reason as Blockbuster. They are run by a bunch of uptight corporations whose money-hungry shareholders bend over and say "fuck me" for every conservative/politically correct organization that threatens to boycott them. I don't mean that the people that work for Hollywood or Blockbuster are spineless cretins, I just mean the corporate ass-lickers who make the rules are the jellyfish...

Video Update is the best moviestore ever!!!
1.It has porn Section /ubb/smile.gif (I don't watch that cause they got these glass-like plates.
2.The guys in there are not OLD or 2 young they are like 20-26 and They're CooL too Like really cool GUYS!! Wow ONLY 3 Clerks references!!! I'm surprised you don't use more. Anyways, for whoever who HAS seen Clerks, you should sympathize with the guy behind the counter... Not everyone is like us... some people actually rent Navy Seals or Ernest Goes to Summer Camp. With all the bad movies rented and all the crap they have to put up with, they gotta take out their anger on customers, and chances are their one of you. That's why I BUY my movies.

I've worked in a video store, as have most of my friends, as have, I imagine, a lot of people on this board. That job may seem easy, but trust me, it's a pain in the ass. Sometimes cusomers can be just as stupid as clerks, and when you're day is bad enough, you take it out on everyone. I'm not saying it's right, and I'm not saying that some guys in stores aren't just plain jerks, but give them some credit. After all, they're just people.

The man that runs one of the video stores in my areias' name is George. God is he an asshole. He is just some teen who thinks he is God. If you try to rent a friggin' porno he preaches to you. I rented a video of Arli$$ the other day and he said I had to show ID. Why I said. So the asshead pointed to the sign that says you have to be 17 to rent a R-rated movie. The box said it was Not Rated and so did the computer. Still I had to show ID. Well so people have no brains.

My town has one Blockbuster and three local video stores but our Blockbuster sucks ass so I always rent at the locals. Anyway, I used to work at one of the locals and the manager was a complete asshole, always ordering the other employees around and being a jerk with the costumers. The costumers always said that I was the best employee there because I was never rude and always helped people with the movies they should rent and all that. I was loved, the manager was hated and the fucker fires me for it! Luckily, now I work for one of the other locals and the manager there is the coolest guy, he always helps everybody out, he's always in a good mood and he raised my salary! Things do get better overtime.

I love my small po dunk movie store..the have TONS of movies..all non new releases $1 for 7 days DVD $3.00 for 3 days ...AND they call me every Tuesday, and let me know what the new releases for the week are, AND if they don't reach me or leave a message on my machine they reserve them for the weekend, unless I call and say otherwise. My town has a Movie Gallery and 2 local stores. It used to have 3 local stores but one got shut down for making illegal porno movies. (Gotta love that!). Anyways, I used to hang out at one of the local stores almost everyday. I'd go in for about an hour or so and just look at movies. Since I was friends with the owner, she didnt care. She actually liked it cause sometimes I would suggest a certain movie to a person and they would rent it. I got to the point of where I knew where every video in the store was and I knew all the prices. One day she came and to me and flat out said "Since your here so much helping me with business, would you like a job?" I automatically said yes and was hired on the spot. I worked there for about a year until her husband became a total pain in the ass and criticized me for everything I did, even the good stuff. I just walked in and said, "I've had enough of you, I quit" and walked out. I went back a week later, picked up my final check, and have only gone back 2 or 3 times, but only because the other 2 stores didn't have the movie I wanted. Sometimes I think about going back and asking for a job again because I miss the free rentals and posters, but then I realize that they've changed so much in the store since I worked there that I hardly know where anything is. Plus they changed their prices too.
I've applied at movie gallery, but the say you have to be 18 to work there because of the adult section. I was 13 when I worked at the other store and practically hung out in the porn section. I always had to put movies away back there. It didnt bother me at all. I kinda want to work at Movie Gallery because I go there all the time now and I have their selection memorized and the prices, but no, you gotta be 18.

I used to manage a Video store and the job is tougher than most people think. You have to keep track of 20,000 movies, customers don't like paying late fees, customers fight over movies and I mean fist fights, I had to call the police and or kick people out at least 20 times in 3 years. I do agree that some stores are run very poorly and some employees have bad attitudes, but just remember that kid behind the counter just checked in 200 movies, rented 600 out and had to listen to 60 people complain because they had to pay a late fee they already knew they had, so he might not be in the most possitive mood he has ever been in.

This isn't about movies, but just something im currently pissed about. Today I had a job interview at Pizza Hut. I got the job, but then the manager motioned to my gotee and said, "you know your gonna have to shave that off right?" I've never shaved my gotee. It's been growing for 2 years now. The only thing I do is trim it when it gets grungy. People dont recognize me without it. I look 2 years younger without it. The thing I'm pissed about is, why should I have to change the way I look just to work for them??? Why cant they just let me be? It's not like my gotee sheds or anything. I keep it clean and trim, so it looks nice. When I go on dates, girls like to play with it. IM having serious doubts about taking this job now. What should I do??

At a Premiere Video not too far from me, back in November I called and asked them to call me when a copy of "Gossip" came in (keep in mind, this was before I realized the movie sucked). They said they'd do it, but they never did, so when it came close to closing time, I called them and asked if it came in. They said it in, so I drived the 15 minutes it takes to get there to pick it up. Wasn't there, they said, and that they're not supposed to reserve movies in the first place.

Then why in the hell did you agree to hold onto the flick in the first place?!

I got so frustrated I bought the flick the next day on DVD, and now I'm stuck with a cruddy movie on DVD that cost 11 bucks more than it would have to just rent it. Dammit...
