I didn't get the part where they put Blade in that stone thing. What were they trying to do with him? who were those people and why did they put them around? I just saw the 30 minutes end on USA

I assume that since Blade can walk in day light, and Dorff can't then I think that taking the blood from Blade meant that Dorff could now walk in the daylight as the blood god.(I think)

I don't know the logistics but the people all around Stephen Dorff were there so that the Blood god ritual could take place. They were the heads of the Vampire network in America(Possibly even the world).

Actually, they needed Blade because of the Prophecy that called for a Daywalker. The only Daywalker they knew of was Blade.
