I was shock when I heard about a movie about the history told on the books "Lord of the Rings".
Some time ago, my friends recomended me this books, so i've started to read it.

I have just finish the third of the five books series (There are five books: Three about the Lord of the Rings history and two "The Hobbit" and "The Silmarillion" about the previous ages) and I really have my doubts about the movie.

I don't think this movie is going to be good, because the book have a variety of characters that make really hard the writing of the movie. The same happend with "House of the Spirits" with Irons, Close, Banderas and Ryder. The film was a disaster for the same reason.

I really like to read your opinions. See you. (and excuse my english but I'm learning).

I have read LOTR three times, last time was nine years ago. It should be remembered that there will be three movies; Fellowship Of The Ring, Two Towers and Return Of The King. Each film will run from 2 to 3 hours. That means that the whole story will be 6-9 hours long. I think that's enough time to include everything which is important in the books.

This is what i meant.
That time was three movies (one per each basic book). The films were a dissaster. No one saw them in the theathers and they were a financial failure.(I don't think this will be a problem this time).
This time is not an artistic version, is a "Hollywood Version" (big stars and all of this), then I still have my doubts.

Actually two months ago I wrote a pretty long topic called "7 REASONS WHY LOTR WILL RULE!". You can find it if you pick "show topics from last 60 days" from the list on the top of board.

...i really don't think there will be that much of a problem with the films, and will probably end up being absolutely spectacular, but it is nature to always look at the downside of things.

Peter Jackson and his crew are talented enough to do a bloody fine job, just look at his other films!!!...The Frighteners, Meet the Feebles, Braindead and Heavenly Creatures.

Actually, I just started reading them because of the release of the movies. I got the entire set for Christmas and I was looking forward to reading all of them anyway. I'm almost done with The Hobbit and i'll be starting on the next one soon. So far it's pretty good. If they pull it off well then this should be a amazing trilogy.

Refresh my memory, they are NOT making a movie of The Hobbit right?

Peace,

No, but they probably will, if LOTR is succesful.

Hobbit is nice, but nothing compared to LOTR in my opinion. Hobbit is more kiddie friendly and childish, where as LOTR is really dark, scary and epic.

I really don't think so.
The Smaug Dragon is far much exiting than the history of Fellowship of the Ring

I believe they wont be making the prequel, if that is what you can call it, cause i think Peter Jackson wants to move on and make King Kong, which he was going to make until he decided on LOTR. I doubt they will get another director as they would probably want Jackson's visual style to remain.
