I just saw this movie yesterday with my dad (maybe not a good idea). I was left in a very weird state of mind. I wanted to feel confused but somehow i wasnt. There are a couple of things that i didnt understand:

1. Why Lynch used a flame in the wind when he sometimes cut from scene to scene.

2. How the fat guy was standing dead and how he hit the radio when it went off.

3. Who was the guy with no ear at the end? Was it the husband Don? Was it the gay guy Ben?

4. At the beginning when Jeffrey father got caught up with the wire the camera zoomed into the ground to show a lot of beetles. Was this to represent evil? WHat was it?

I in a very weird sort of way really liked this film but i dont know if i have the stomach to see it again the main reason being Frank Booth. That guy is fucking crazy.

I also thought that Jeff after his experiance would go a little crazy himself and start beating up Sandy in bed! But at the end he appeared normal.

Give me your thoughts on the movie and help me put the pieces together with helping me understand my above querries

george.

I think this movie all comes down to the characters for me. Some of their mayhem I found to be amusing, while other sorts left me feeling downright squemish. All-in-all, there was really no one in this movie that was very likable. I very much appreciated the style in which everything was presented, but would rather watch Lynch's Wild At Heart to get that fix.

Dennis Hopper was nuts in that one!

I really don't think Lynch ever intended it to make any total sense. Same with Lost Highway, and what I've heard about Muholland Falls. His movies are like dreams, they never make any real sense. Yes, I do agree with Ebert.
