View Full Version : Anyone else hate Claire Danes?

Claire Danes is an overrated, mannered actress who uses 25 cent vocabulary words when she's attempting to appear intelligent while plugging her latest film (i.e. BOMB) on the talk show circuit.

The mere fact that one of the reasons why Jodie Foster turned down HANNIBAL because she wanted to direct Danes in FLORA PLUM (which hasn't seen the light of day yet) is enough reason for this little pretentious "actress" (and I use the term loosely) to get bitch-slapped!!!

Come on you two. She ain't that bad.

While I don't think she is pretty (its that damn mouth), I sure don't think she is repulsively ugly either. As for her acting, while it's true I don't expect her to win an Academy Award anytime soon, she does have some chops. She is a better actress than most of her contemporaries.

OMG, you guys are friggin' crazy! Claire Danes may not be the most beautiful actress, but I still think she is good-looking. Not mention that she is a damn good actress that will win an Oscar one of these years, you watch. She was incredible in Little Women, My So-Called Life, and Romeo & Juliet among other roles that she's had.

And Jodie Foster didn't wanna do Hannibal because the first one disturbed her or something while making it and she didn't like the script either. As for Flora Plum, well, Russell Crowe hurt it arm/hand or something and it was shelved for the time being, but I dunno why it hasn't been put back into production.

I don't know what planet you guys are from but did you ever watch Claire in My So-Called Life, a critically adored/shortlived series that was on ABC a few seasons back????

She was amazing!!!! She was also great in Brokedown Palace as well.

She is cute as hell!

I never said she was ugly...and that little, pretentious short-lived (thank God) TV series "My So-Called Life" was one big downer. I've never seen a group of characters complain and whine about their lives as much as these has-beens did...with the exception of "Relativity", another bomb created by those "thirtysomething" producers (i.e. hacks).

As for her acting, it's decent enough.

Her acting is not amazing hehehe its the damn script that is the amazing one, they just hired this piece of shit to say the words and hit the marks and move her hand this way. That tv show was kinda stupid though no wonder it was short lived. Has this bitch ever heard of shine free? Every picture I see of her and her nerdy screech looking boyfriend she is all oily hell she produces enough oil to fry a chicken extra crispy style!

Dude, that show was great and the whining and stuff is very accurate to today's teenage life....teen angst it's called.

I haven't heard of Claire Danes being in a movie for a while now. The last one I heard she was in was Brokendown Palace or something like that, but that was in 1999. By the way, I'm not a fan of hers either.

Then why does she go to Yale? lol Because that's why she hasn't been in a movie in a while, but she has some coming out in 2002.

I love Claire Danes. In my opinion she's one of the best young actresses there is. I loved her in THE HOURS, ROMEO AND JULIET, THE RAINMAKER, etc. I think she has lots of potential.

Are you kidding? "My So Called Life" was the most accurate depiction of teenage life I have ever seen on television. None of this 90210 crap where 30 year olds are playing teenagers and we're supposed to believe the outrageous things that happen to them. MSCL embodied *exactly* what it is like to be a teenager.

Here, here. And hell, even though the guy was gay, at least there was 1 cast member on MSCL that wasn't white. (I apologize if that sounds a little racist, but come on! NOT 1 SINGLE BLACK CAST MEMBER IN IT'S 10 YEAR SERIES RUN?! WHAT THE FUCKIN SHIT IS THAT?! Once again, I'm sorry if that last comment sounded a little racist.)

That's one of the things that I liked about MSCL. Besides the adorable Ms.Danes.

That's definitely not racist, it's a good observation. Racist would be saying "I refuse to watch MSCL because of the hispanic gay guy on it!" It's very true, a lot of shows run for entire seasons without any ethnic diversity (cough FRIENDS cough)

"In the year 2000, on the final episode of Friends, it'll finally be revealed that New York has black people!"

I'm with Antonio. She's annoying. Anyone to accept the role as Juliet in the horrible Romeo + Juliet has to be on something.

Jesus. Talk about hateful, vitriolic, hurtful comments. I'm not saying that Clare Danes will ever read any of the thoughtless, insensitive rubbish that some of you schmoes are spouting about her. You'd think to read some of these posts that she came over every morning and pissed in your cornflakes. I mean, fair enough, if you think that her acting sucks then by all means comment on that. But some of the comments (in particular those of ParileseMonster) are just horrible. She ain't the best actress in the world but she does have talent. She ain't the most beautiful woman in the world but she's a fucking wild distance away from being "an ugly fucking whore". She likely isn't the most intelligent woman in the world either but i'm pretty sure she ain't as dumb as some of you seem to think. Everyone is entitles to an opinion but some decorum would be appreciated with regards to how those opinions are expressed.

She was great in MSCL but how long can she ride on that hit? It has been 8 yrs since the first run of that show and people are still fixed on that image of her. Since MSCL she hasnt done anything extraordinary. Brokedown Palace was just OK.The Mod Squad was a piece of crap. She is called "intellegent" because she grew up in the artsy crowd in NYC and she got into Yale after being tutored on the sets of movies. I'm sure the admissions office was just impressed with her extracurricular activities and the fact that she didnt need financial aid to attend school there, which I believe was the case when Brooke Shields attended Princeton. It also didnt hurt that she reportedly got a great recommendation from former alum Jodie Foster instead of "Your-Friendly-Public-School-Guidance-Counselor"...Or maybe I'm just a pessimist who believes in every conspiracy theory possible...

I would have to agree with you there. I loved her on MSCL but I have not been blown away by anything she's done since.

Some of these horrible comments really fucking piss me off. A lot of them are just plain hurtful and rude. Who are some of you people to say these things about her? If you don't like her, then fine, but a lot of the things that are being said about her are just plain uncalled for. How would you like it if you had people that didn't even know you saying these things about you? You may not think it would bother you now but I know if you were actually in that situation it would probably bug the shit out of you.

I love Claire Danes, I used to have the biggest crush on her. She's beautiful and very talented. She was excellent in the little-seen but very powerful drama Brokedown Palace. She stole the show in my opinion. I also really enjoyed her in To Gillian On Her 37th Birthday, Romeo and Juliet, and everything else she has been in. I can't wait to see her in The Hours (along with the rest of the great cast, mainly Julianne Moore), and she is a big reason I might see T3 in theaters, she looks great in T3. I really enjoyed T2, but I still don't know if I'd actually put effort into going and seeing T3 in theaters if it wasn't for this talented little hottie.

Some of you should be fucking ashamed about some of the things you are saying.

I consider her to be a good actress. She starred in one of my favorite shows ever, My so-called life''. She was also great in Brokedown palace, another one of my fave movies.

I didn't really like her in Romeo and Juliet though because she just didn't fit the part IMO, and there was zero chemistry between her and Leonardo Dicaprio.

Agreed. I am annoyed a bit by the way she always cocks her head to the side and half smiles.

Wierd observation - yes I know - but someone else pointed it out and now it bugs me!

Me too, me too. To be perfectly honest, I pre-ordered the "MSCL" dvd set before I even had a dvd player, and it was my main motivation for getting one. Best teen show ever!

Very cute (reminds me of a girl I attended school with). Love her long neck, big brown eyes and cleft chin. Cute, nibblable ears, also.

Rather talented. Catch I Love You, I Love You Not w/ Jude Law. She has some great scenes with Jeanne Moreau. You don't hang with her if you have no talent.

Did anyone see her on Letterman last night? I don't have any strong opinions about her at all but I noticed she was kinda fidgety. Reason I noticed is becuz years ago when I saw her on Letterman she seemed 100x more fidgety and was also sniffing a lot and rubbing her nose. I figured she must be on coke. Last night she didn't act like she was on coke so maybe she's cleaned herself up since then.

I was just about to write about how much I hate her acting, then you reminded me of Brokedown Palace which she was sensational in (way ahead of Kate Beckinsale).

And then I remembered Romeo and Juliet which was awesome and she was great in it too.

Something about the way she talks in interviews though really annoys me!
