Questions about the The Shining (1980)

No this has nothing to do with the ending! I completely understand the end.

My 2 questions are these:

1. If Dick Halloran can "shine" then how come he didn't forsee that he will die?

2. If Delbert Grady is just a ghost that Jack can see how could the ghost open the door of the storage room for him?
I was thinking it was Tony (Danny's alter-ego)

Anyways to try and answer your question about dick (the black dude right). He was to busy saving their asses that he couldnt quite use his shine powers. Or maybe it was just an unexplainable turn of events.
