Well, with almost 2 months left before nominations are announced, it is only a matter of time before some of the best critics out there decide who will have a chance at going home with one of those prestigious trophies come March. Who will join the ranks of such greats as George Lucas, Stanley Kubrick, Kevin Costner, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Douglas, Jack Nicholson, Michael Caine, Marlon Brando, Warren Beatty, Julia Roberts, Marisa Tomei, Kim Basinger, Brian Helgeland,...and of course how could I leave out perhaps the greatest of them all...Pauly Shore? You didn't think I was talking about the Oscars did you? Who would want to debate about that? I want to know who should be nominated for the 2001 Razzies. I'm not exactly sure what the catagories will be, but these were last years': Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Actress, Worst Screen Couple, Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Supporting Actress, Worst Remake or Sequel, Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay. I rarely do this, but I'm going to agree with all of those. Couldn't have picked them better myself.

With the exception of Ashley Judd in Someone Like You, who gave a good performance and Catherine Zeta Jones in Americas Sweethearts, who was the best thing about that stinker,

I agree with your list, 99% of the choices I would have picked!

Ok. Even though I did not think Pearl Harbor was that bad I can overlook that since almost everyone else hates it too. But the most unforgivable choice you made was Kate Beckinsale for Serendipity! She was wonderful in that movie. How could you say that!

BTW, when did Lucas, Kubrick, Hopkins, Douglas and Nicholson ever get a razzie? I mean Nicholson and Hopkins?! What next? Robert Deniro and Al Pacino getting razzies?!

David Spade should definetly be added to the worst actor list for his horrible performance in the godawful Joe Dirt!

I guess I'll start to defend some of my choices. First, I'll have to admit, I haven't seen all these movies so I really can't pass judgement completely by what I've seen. For some I had to go by word of mouth, critics, and just a hunch. Here I go:

Ashley Judd (Someone Like You)-Joblo said in his review that she just wasn't that good. He said she cried too much, complained about a stupid "new cow" theory, and went as far as saying she "might work in a romantic comedy but this isn't the one." The writers can be blamed for part of this, but if she can't play the part convincingly why did she choose it. Someone has to go down for this bomb.

Catherine Zeta-Jones (America's Sweethearts)-I read somewhere that she was way to bitchy(and not funny) and there was no chemistry between her and Cusack. Plus, the Razzies like to pick on Oscar nominees and she fits the bill. In my opinion, bad actresses are a lot tougher to find than actors for some reason, so I'll stick to my guess until anyone gives me a better one.

Kate Beckinsale (Pearl Harbor)-I'll admit she was better in Serendipity, but the script was so annoying it began to rub off on her. Also, the Razzies tend to judge actors/actresses by all the movies they put out in a year, so if she gets nominated for PH she'll also be judged by Seredipity.

David Spade (Joe Dirt)-I'll have to admit, the Spademeister kind of sucked in this one, but this goes back to the plethera of bad actors. I could switch him with Affleck or Wahlberg, but I think I'll stick with them because they are usually good leading men who just had crappy years(something the Razzies go after).

Oh, and the actors, directors, and screenwriters I listed were only nominated for Razzies. I didn't quite make myself clear, but that's what I meant. Here's the list of the films they were nominated for(dug them up from the site):

George Lucas-Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace(1999)
Stanley Kubrick-The Shining(1980)
Kevin Costner-Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves(1991),The Bodyguard(1992),...the list goes on
Anthony Hopkins-A Change of Seasons(1980)
Michael Douglas-Dressed to Kill and The Island(1980),Basically It Stinks and Shining Through(1992)
Jack Nicholson-Hoffa and Man Trouble(1992)
Michael Caine-Jaws: The Revenge(1987)
Marlon Brando-The Formula(1980),Christopher Columbus: The Discovery(1992)
Warren Beatty-produced Ishtar(1987)
Julia Roberts-Hook(1991),Mary Reilly(1996)
Marisa Tomei-Oscar(1991)
Kim Basinger-9 1/2 Weeks(1986),The Marrying Man(1991),...the list goes on
Brian Helgeland-co-wrote the screenplay to The Postman(1997)
