I just checked the new trailer for Spy Kids and it kicked major arse. It just looks like great fun: Impressive visuals, cool action, excellent cast and a great sense of cheesy fun in the style of Charlie's Angels.
I hope that this film will finally prove the talent of writer / director Robert Rodriguez. He has always been a very talented director but he has worked mainly with sub-par scripts. It seems that he is making this film in the tradition of his previous short films "Bedhead" and "Four Rooms: The Misbehaviours", which are great stuff and his best works to date.
At least the film company behind it is having enourmous confidence in the film. The sequel is already in the works... I'n my opinion this film looks like a big hit... 100 million domestically for sure, maybe even more.

I totally agree with you, Tuukka. I was somewhat interested in the flick after its initial trailer, but this latest one really makes it look like a LOTTA FUN!! I think it might be one of those flicks that'll work for both kids AND adults...
And the fact that Miramax has already gotten the ball rolling on PART DEUX, really does say a lot about their confidence in Rodriguez and this first movie...

Spy Kids trailer makes me feel like a kid again. This is exactly kind of stuff I wanted to see when I was a child. A great looking action film in which kids are totally equal with adults. The idea of those kids doing some wire-fu in awesome settings under the visual talent of Rodriguez seems pretty cool to me.
Also, both kids are really sympathetic and it seems that they are having a great chemistry together. Rodriguez has always been great in directing children, he knows how to avoid that sugary cuteness we see all to often in kiddie films.
"Never send a grown-up to do a kid's job"
"Real spies... Only smaller"
...Kids need more films like this... BTW, did I already mention that their mother is HOT!!!

After Joblo's glowing review for this film my anticipation is getting higher and higher... BTW Joblo, which would you rate higher, Spy Kids or Charlie's Angels?

That's a simple one to answer, Tuukka. I'd rate them both on the same level, but DEFINITELY would recommend CHARLIE'S more to adults and SPY KIDS more to kids.
One thing to keep in mind about SPY KIDS is that it IS definitely more for children!! Buuuuut, as long as you still have a lot of "kid in you" (which thankfully, I do), you will most likely enjoy its inventions a lot also. They're both just a whole lotta FUN!!!
BTW, I would go as far as to say that if you DIDN'T like CHARLIE'S ANGELS (cause you thought it was "dumb" or "over-the-top"), then SPY KIDS ain't your ballgame either.
I personally would love to see either one again and again!!

Looks like I'm going to be seeing this next weekend over what looks to be another crappy romantic comedy and teen film.

I saw the movie this weekend and was very impressed. Robert Rodriguez did an awesome job creating a kids film that is dynamic enough to appeal to an adult audience. All of the cool gadgets make me want to run off and become a spy myself. The movie brings out the adventuresome kid in all of us. /ubb/smile.gif
BTW. . the movie trailer, a spy kids game, and tons of information about the movie are located on the Spy kids website, http://www.spykids.com/homepage
