Yup. I'm with you guys. It's gonna be Pearl Harbor. And A.I. isn't far from nr.1. The Mummy Returns maybe... could be a big "popcorn" flick.

Pearl Harbour could be huge. Guys will flock to theatres to check out the killer special effects and their girlfriends will go to enjoy the romance angle.
If the movie's half decent and if the marketing campaign really gets the ball rolling (which it looks like it has), it could be bigger than Titanic...which is a pretty scary thought.

I'd have to say PEARL HARBOR...

I know...I know, Pearl Harbor will win the race, and frankly, I hope it DOES beat Titanic...
It's just that I really, REALLY want A.I. to be another Close Encounters or E.T.
I miss the old Spielberg.

Pearl Harbor could gross between 250-350 million, it's going to be huge!!!!
Jurassic Park 3 will probably gross around 175-205 million
The Mummy Returns, Shrek, Tomb Raider and A.I should gross around 150 million
What's The Worst That Could Happen?, Planet Of The Apes, Atlantis, Rush Hour 3 and Spy Kids should gross anywhere from 100-140 million
Rollerball will be a disaster!!!!

Noone has mentioned Lord of the Rings. When is that coming out anyway? If it doesn't get pushed to december, it could be very big too. But not bigger than Pearl Harbor.
Lord of the Rings without a shadow of a doubt will be better and bigger than those films you have mentioned. It will be the biggest film of all time.
I should give reasons, and here is why...
Lord of the Rings has...
A superb, visionary director, who is always consistent - Peter Jackson.
The best cast you can have, with some fine actors.
Based on the most successful book of the 20th century, with a massively massive following of fans, and general readers alike.
It has a great story.
Promises to deliver some of the most epic visions never seen ever.
...and i could go on and on.
Whilst Pearl Harbor looks ok, i generally think it will be like other Michael Bay films - a bit cheesy, and slightly melodramatic. It will make money, but not as much as Titanic.
A.I - It has one of the greatest directors the world has ever had, but, the story looks to be a bit obscure for a mass audience, and will probably end up being very sentimental. That's what the trailer suggests anyways.
Although, i have confidence in this film being a superb slice of celluloid.
It won't be massive though.
The Mummy Returns - this film will make a lot of money. Even though the first was very tongue in cheek and corny as hell, that's why people went to see it, and i quite liked it. the second looks like it will be a worthy sequel, and masses will follow.
P.S - Lors of the Rings and A.I have excellent advertising campaigns. People are moaning about the LOTR trailer not showing much or exciting them enough, but i think this is a clever device on the director's part to try and downplay hype, like that which came with Episode I.

Pearl Harbor will be very big, but not as big as Titanic. There are too many people who just don't like Michael Bay's approach to filmmaking. 400-600 million worldwide.
Mummy 2 will be slightly bigger than the original. 400-600 million worldwide.
Jurassic Park 3 is too much of the same old thing and it has no Spielberg anymore. 250-400 million worldwide.
Tomb Raider will do between 250 million and 500 million worldwide.
A.I could be huge. A new E.T, anyone? It will make from 200-1200 million worldwide. Very hard to predict.
Fellowhip Of The Ring will make from 250 million to 1000 million worldwide. Hard to predict.
...I think that Jurassic Park 3 and Mummy 2 can never be exceptionally big. They are just too much of the same old thing and a very big percentage of the audiences is simply not interested in that kind of generic popcorn films.
A.I and Fellowship Of The Ring in the other hand seem like films that nobody has done ever before. So if they are succesful artistically, they could do massive, Titanic size business. Then again, since they are more original, it might alienate a big part of the audiences and they might end up doing big, but not massive business.

The mystery webring and phone numbers for A.I. are pretty cool. They've got me jazzed again. It may not be number one in terms of dollars, but it's going to be a great film.
...i foresee you will be correct

I don't think Mummy Returns will earn too much. Pearl Harbor? Definitely. AI? It's Spielberg. That should be enough.
LOTR will hopefully beat that Titanic crap for highest grossing film ever.
I think stories that have been embedded in popular culture, such as that of LOTR, although not true, unlike Titanic, they have a higher chance of success.
Such as Star Wars making more money the second time the original trilogy was released.
LOTR has had such culture followings that its success will be spectacular, and that's its destiny.

I agree with ak on a couple of points but I don't think Lord of the rings will be a blockbuster this year. I think it will make a good run this year and the following will cause the next two films to be huge blockbusters. This year is going to be all about Pearl Harbor and A.I. I hate to admit it but I think the eye candy factor plays a big part of it. The have been running trailers fpor pearl harbor in cinaplexes for more than a year already, and people will think the have to go. And A.I. is going to rule only because it is Spielberg going back to his sci-fi family roots. (Based on the trailer's and story bits I heard I think I liked this movie the first time I saw it when it was called D.A.R.Y.L.)
I also think that Tomb Raider will make a lot of money because people want to see stuff blow up and they want to see if Angelina Jolie will do that flip trick.
:Let me conclude my saying I don't think that these will be the best movies I only think the will make a truck load of money.
The fact that The Fellowship of the Ring is being released at christmas and all the other film well before it, there will be hardly anything else about, apart from Michael Mann's "Ali", which definately, although probably going to be a great film, won't endanger LOTR at all.
The way i see it is that no one can really touch the LOTR at that time of year, and i also think that the producers don't want the audience to think that it is another dumb summer blockbuster, which it is definately most not, so they released it at christmas, although, i am just making a statement there as LOTR, due to its schedule, could not be brought out that early.
It will be interesting to see what happens next year when The Two Towers and The Matrix II come out at basically the same time.
Personally, i think The Two Towers will whup the crap out of The Matrix II, of course, depending on the quality of The Fellowship of the Ring.

Normjr, A.I. is based on a short story that came out years before D.A.R.Y.L.

Hellllllo?! You all forget, think about the public and what the typical American wants to see. Chances are that Pearl Harbor will NOT beat Titanic (as much as I would like it to...) because
A. There's no Leo and lets face it, the movie got the most money from 12 year old girls' allowence.
B. It's to much of a graphic story line for younger kids to see and parent's won't pull. It's World War 2 for crying out loud...
C. It's appealing to some shaky people. War vets probably won't go, adults might think it's a rip off appealing only to teenage girls who think Ben and Josh are hot (like me...) and little girls who love them can't get in.
Don't get me wrong, it'll do well, but Titanic will forever be epic in the movie buisness. It's saying a lot...
