Ho Kay, forgive me for asking but...WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?!?!?
So making a Scooby Doo movie has been decided on!
Terrible news as it was a terrible cartoon to begin with, and really should have no potential to be made into a movie!
But what i believe, puts the icing on the cake is the actors they have to play our trust-worthy characters.
Freddie Prinze Jr. as of course - FRED, i guess if anyone hes good enough for the part /ubb/frown.gif ?
Matthew Lilard - Shaggy, yeah get someone who plays the crazy guy in every movie who seems to have the need to show his HUGE TONGUE in every flick that he's in.
Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) - Daphne, Ahh yes the "queen of kick-ass" proves to us once again that she can act without acting like a lesbian or merely kicking someone...oh no...wait...hmm.
A wild choice of actors there!
I think someone should ease up on the ol' "cough tablets" there.
I just wondered what everyone elses opinon on the upcoming movie is.
Oh BTW, who's playing Velma in the movie i am unsure of the actress who plays her, does anyone know who she is and what she's been in before?

I heard it is the girl from Freaks and Geeks. Linda Cardellini
She was in Dead Man on Campus, as Kyle's girlfriend, that's where i know her from

The whole movie is a joke... the cartoon was bad, but at least it was watchable; this movie, however, will not be... the casting sucks ass and the whole idea of this movie is so fucking ridiculous. Another way for Hollywood studios to make easy money.

As I said in another post, I'd love to know who the target audience for "Scooby Doo" is. I doubt little kids will want to go see it, and the same goes for older crowds (40+). For those who grew up on the original cartoons, the choice may be to -- 1) go the theater to see how well an old cartoon favorite can be brought alive, or 2) consider the movie as somewhat blasphemous and not bother at all. Either way, I don't think that the film is going to pull in that lucrative teen market.

This movie sounds like crap and i really really wish that sarah michelle gellar wasnt in it. Ill probably end up watching it but only cause of sarah.
SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR is reason enough to see it. That's why I'm seeing it... I bet it will do good at the box office though, at least ok...

Linda Cardellini is reason enough to see it.
Reading all the posts everyone seems to hate the casting, If you ran the movie who would you cast?

Christina Ricci with glasses looks like a perfect Velma
Tom Green For Shaggy
Not sure about Fredd
Alicia Witt for Daphne (because i dont want anything to harm Sarah michelle gellars Career, and i dont really care for Alicia)

This movie sounds bad. Here's my cast:
Fred - Casper Van Dien (FPJ is a tad skinny, unless he pulls a Deniro/Raging Bull for this flick, which I doubt.)
Daphne - Kirsten Dunst as a red hed in heels.
Vilma - I'm with Chrisina Ricci w/glasses.
Shaggy - Tobey Mcguire (SP!) - Check out Tobey as the hitchhiker in Fear and Loathing.
Speaking of Fear and Loathing, just imagine Benicio DelTorro with a role:
Vilma - "We're going to the Old Hilbert Place to investigate."
Benicio - "Well... <ADJUSTS PANTS> first thing we need is a big green psychedelic van. We can call it The Mystery Machine. Then we need a bunch of Scooby Snacks, I know a guy in LA who can set us up. Whoa... Wait a minute! Shaggy, your dog is talking. <PAUSE> Man, who the hell are you people?"

I saw a picture of them in costume & it all looked fine to me, SMG looks like Daphne, Freddy Princess Jr. looks like the guy with white (stuff in his) hair, Velma looks like velma & Matt lilard looks like shaggy. I liked the cartoon & I still do, sometimes, I want to see it, but I also wanna know who's playing scooby
...Scooby is to be completely CGI.

I predict this Movie will do well.....as well as Rocky & Bullwinkle /ubb/biggrin.gif
I predict the film will be hated as much as Batman and Robin. It may do well at the box office (going by today's audience standards) but the film will definately be torn to shreds by all critics. Except Jonathan Ross, cause he wouldn't know a good film if it bit him in the ass.

Well, personally I LOVE the cartoon, I just think it's "crappiness" is sooooo funny and I love all the subtle drug references. However I am against the idea of a film because it's quite clearly going to take itself much too seriously and just generally be crap.
If i can ask though, those who don't like the cartoon, what in particular you didn't like about it? just interested...
