With releases like Blair Witch 2, Urban Legends, Urban Legends Final Cut, Valentine and many others that belong in the horror genre...all the critics hate them. What element is horror missing these days that makes these movies not up the good standards that were set with The Exorcist and many others...

I think its originiality and unpredictability, but that's just me. All the movies I mentioned are pretty much slashers (with the exception of BW2) and pretty much just a movie with a person in a mask walking round killing people. It's also easy to tell who killers are in movies now.

What do you think?

I'll say, one would think you'd know better by now! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/redface.gif

I think it's characterisation, if you read a horror novel then the first half of the novel is simply characterisation. This allows the reader to feel for the characters and not want any harm to come to them, so if they are put in a situation where they may be harmed you genuinly feel afraid for them. In today's movies this lack of characterisation means you don't care that the characters are going to die, and therefore aren't afraid.

I'd say originality and unpredictability, but since horror isn't really my genre, I'm not going to go to far into it.

Key Elent - What does it mean? I've never heard of that saying before....

Just in case you weren't being sarcastic, I think he meant "Key Element".

Bugger it - Sorry! It's early here in the U.K, and I wasn't paying much attention.

Thanks, btw.

Well, modern horror movies hardly ever have any nudity! I hate getting teased... http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif
