Only since A Simple Plan did i realise this. Id seen him in hilarious bit parts, usually playing the cocky comic relief. Take for example Aliens and Predator 2, not to mention his conman part in True Lies in which he outshone Arnies unintentional comic ability, which is hard to do. Along came the subtle A Simple Plan. He gave one of the most convincing performances i have ever seen and although Thornton did get oscar recognition, he stole the show and gave the film its 5 star feeling. Frailty is coming soon and from the trailer and the reviews i have already read, i expect something to possibly redefine the horror genre.

I totally agree! It's his comedic parts that I like best. The conman in True Lies is CLASSIC!!!

Yes, he is a very good actor, with some marvellously enjoyable performances. He has talent, but he's no genius.

He also played the excellent “dickhead” brother (chett I think) in “Weird Science”
