Does anybody know where Will Smith was when they announced his name for BEST ACTOR??? I mean, jeeeeezus, I know the dude was in the audience (but they put a picture of him up instead)...don't tell me that the one and only time in his life (more than likely) that he will be nominated for this award and he was in the bathroom or something?

Anybody got the skinny?

A fairly reliable source tells me that he and his wife were called out on a family "emergency" that turned out not to be all that serious. That's as much as I know.

On cnn they said that Jada and Will split early because their kid had a 103 fever and was taken to the hospital...

Well, since he knows that he couldn't become the second black actor too win Oscar, maybe he thought he had chance to become the first black president? I hate too break it too you, Will, but if you can't win an Oscar, then sure as hell can't win president http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif.

The plot thickens, fellas. John Leguizamo was on the Craig Kilborn show just now and said that he wasn't going to "name names" but that someone who was nominated for BEST ACTOR (Will Smith obviously) got into a fight with someone sitting next to him, who was nominated for BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR (Ethan Hawke obviously). He also said that Hawke apparently had a bruise on his cheek after the show...

Anyone, anyone....Bueller????

Why would Ethan Hawke wanna F with a Dude that just trained to be fit and box like ALI. He should be happy that it was just a bruise, and Will did'nt take his head off. Oh well i'm sure that Ethan got to suck on those Booby's after the Show

This is from today's New York Post:

***************************

A WILD rumor circulated yesterday that "Ali" star Will Smith was booted from the Oscars after punching Ethan Hawke backstage, but the stars' reps have perfectly plausible explanations for Smith's sudden absence and Hawke's bruised face.
Smith's rep, Stan Rosenfield, said Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett, bolted the ceremony to rush their baby daughter Willow to the hospital.

The 16-month-old tyke fell ill with a "deep ear infection." Smith and Pinkett fled the Kodak Theater shortly after Sidney Poitier's lifetime achievement Oscar, when they got an urgent call that Willow was sick with a 103 temperature.

"They took her to the hospital and brought her home later that night," Rosenfield said. "She's fine now and is taking medication."

Meanwhile, Hawke, Best Actor winner Denzel Washington's "Training Day" co-star, caused a stir when the camera panned to him during Washington's acceptance speech, showing a large, bruise-like mark on Hawke's face.

Turns out the "bruise" was the residue from a sloppy kiss from Denzel's wife, Pauletta, which Hawke received as he left the stage with Gwyneth Paltrow after presenting the original screenplay award to "Gosford Park."

i saw the guys face that was for sure a bruise, not residue from a kiss thats for sure. i have no clue what really happened and i don't care to speculate but i'm about 99% sure that was a bruise on his face.

BOTH of these pics were taken AFTER the Oscars, at the Vanity Fair party.

I don't see any mark on him, but this is Hollywood, the land of make-up for men, so who the hell knows what happened. My guess is that it's all BS, and just the media trying to create some drama where there isn't any to be had.

This is Hollywood. They will try to make a story out of anything.I believe the daughter story not the fight story.

Even if he was punched by Will Smith, it would take about a few hours or so for a bruise to appear.

Well weird. My family and I noticed these things during the telecast:

Dezel sat with Ethan on his left. Uma was on Ethan's left. Later on it showed them and Uma and Ethan had switched seats. Seemed weird.

Another pan to Ethan and he certainly had a bruise on his right cheekbone area. We wondered if maybe he had been leaning his cheek against his hand or something since the show was running long but it wasn't red like when you lose circulation it was black and blue.

I did hear that story about Will and Jada and the baby. I thought it was nice that they both went because it probably could have been handled by one of them leaving Will there for the awards. Will has been to award parties before without Jada while she went home to the kids.

Now I wonder about the bruise. The thing is... there are makeups that will cover bruises really well. I wouldn't doubt that someone had something like this on hand if that was the case.

Weird! Now I'm curious.

I so totally don't buy this.

Uma was sitting on his right, the side I'm 99% sure the bruise was on. If it was lipsticky stuff she would have wiped it off. Wives do that. We're picky. We pick fuzzy things off of clothes, we tell you when you have something on your face OR we fix it ourselves. ESPECIALLY if you're going to be on TV. Nope. Don't buy that one.

And anyway if Will Smith had punched Ethan Hawke, I'm sure he would have more than a bruise. Will Smith basically became Muhammad Ali, in a physical sense, and would have left way more than a bruise.

Are we sure that Leguzamo wasn't telling a joke and poking fun at the fights that best actor nominee Russell Crowe has been getting press for?

If that's the case I feel really bad for Will Smith if he had nothing to do with this. Because look at all of us speculating about it, you know?

However I wonder what caused that bruise. Hell, Ethan could have just tripped and fallen on his face backstage too.

In defense of that, I'm pretty sure that if they did get into a scuffle, that they didn't get out of their seats and put the gloves on. I'm sure Will didn't get to test out any of his boxing abilities sitting right next Hawke. Ther's a better chance that he gave him an elbow to the face if he was sitting next to him.

But, I don't know what to believe. Both stories sound possible, I guess. I think it's probably more than likely that he went to help his kid. But then agian..........

from TV Guide: <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">What was up with the bruise on Ethan Hawke's right cheek?
"You mean the bruise that was gone 15 minutes later," sasses Robert Garlock, his rep. Um, yeah, that one. "It was make-up. I think he brushed up against Denzel Washington's wife, Pauletta. He realized it and wiped it off."</font>

I remember Hawke setting mid section with the rest of the cast from Training Day, and Smith setting with the cast from Ali.....that's the way the oscars have always done it in the past.

I heard on Live! With Regis and Kelly this morning, that Ethan Hawke actually had lipstick on his face from a kiss he got. It actually wasn't a bruise!
