At the end of History of the World(the Mel Brooks film), they have a preview for a sequel. Was this movie really intended to be made, cause the title of the original implies more than one film. Or was it just a little joke, getting people ready for a film that would never be made. What happened?

Think about it for a minute....

A sequel to the history of the world....

I'm pretty sure it was a joke. In just about all of Mel Brook's movies, he makes some strange reference to a sequel that will never happen. Examples include:

In Spaceballs, Yogurt says, "Maybe we'll all see each other again in Spaceballs II: The Search For More Money."

But the movie was called Part I, unless it was all for working the joke...

What I'm getting at is that it is "The History of The World".

Meaning everything that has happened.

So a sequel is just absurd -- Is he going to wait a couple thousand years and lay pt. 2 on us?

It's just a funny title because it is like, "HISTORY OF THE WORLD (part one)"

I think it is a play on words -- absurdist irony.

...yeah, but there's still things he hasn't covered.

Are you trying to convince me that I don't think it's a play on words and that there will really be a sequel.

In all likeliness, HISTORY OF THE WORLD PART II won't be made. Just as KUNG POW: ENTER THE FIST promised KUNG POW II: TONGUE OF FURY, which also probably won't be made...*sigh*...
