Who here thinks of star wars as a kids movie. I was watching CNN a couple of weeks ago and they featured an interview with george lucas who said that star wars was for kids. I know all of the merchandising seems to be aimed at the youth market but I'm not sure that that assertion is correct

There are a ton of Star Wars categories where this topic comes up I believe but I will say two things.
1) Lucas should know who his films are aimed at since he's the one who made them http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif
2) I firmly believe that these are in fact movies that are aimed at children. My 10 year old nephew saw Clones yesterday with us for the first time and hearing him and other kids get audibly excited over some things really put things into perspective.
There was also one kid who screamed out "Go Yoda go!!! That one really tickled me.

This is most certainly true, but I'd still say Star Wars is for children of all ages (meaning everybody who isn't too uptight). Hell, any great childrens movie can be enjoyed by all ages (like Shrek)!

The original Star Wars was for kids I reckon but as the sequels & prequels roll out they are for the fans who are now big kids (that includes me) especially Ep II a real fans movie.
