before timothy dalton got the job of bond christopher lambert was rumoured to be chosen.i think this would have resulted in some great bond movies as the frenchman would have been fantastic as bond.before pierce brosnan got the nod mel gibson was mentioned and once again the chance was missed.for the future maybe tom cruise cause hes a great actor and he can handle action.what do u think?

Tom Cruise - Shoot me!

Clive Owen - Party time!

Seriously though, Tom cruise just wouldn't be at all suitable for Bond. He hasn't got the charm or the wit. Clive Owen, on the other hand, has.
As for now, I think that Pierce Brosnan is doing a fine job.

In a weird way I'd love to see Patrick Stewart as Bond...

Hugh Jackman would make a pretty good Bond I think. Brosnan will probably always be my favorite though.

Maybe we could get an online petition going to keep Brosnan on as James Bond

That is a superb idea.

Christopher Lambert getting the job would've made two people really happy: Lambert, 'cause he'd have suddenly thought he was The Shit, and George Lazenby...I think you can follow the reasoning.

Although Tom Thumb would've sucked a donkey in the role, it would've maybe been fun to see Q rig up something to make him appear taller. Most SFX departments in his films work overtime now doing that http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

Tom Cruise? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I kinda like Scrunch's idea. Patrick Stewart has that classy elegance about him, I can see him as the suave 007.

I reckon Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale would both make a good James Bond. Clive Owen I could also see. Ewan McGregor maybe, not so much in the action scenes, then again you never know.

Call me crazy, but I'd like to see Robbie Williams as 007. At least he'd have the "coolness" of it.

I still say Hugh Jackman could work as Bond. Gabirel Byrne is a very good idea, too...

In my humble opinion, Lambert IS the shit, and will remain the shit, despite some of the shit-ty movies he stars in. (Beowulf...ugh.)

And it's funny Lambert is even mentioned...I heard a rumor a while back that Adrian Paul, the TV Highlander, was in the running for James Bond after Brosnan steps down. Now that would be truly interesting, and I mean in a good way. After all, if you've seen the HL series, you know Duncan Macleod scores just as much booty as ol' 007. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/cool.gif

Ewan McGregor, Jude Law and Christian Bale for Bond...

And please...not Robbie "fat dancer" Williams...I don't think I could tolerate his smarmy kipper for that length of time!!!

Ioan Grufford might be cool but Clive Owen would be outstanding.

Clive Owen sounds like a great choice but he already indicated he would never play Bond, he says the character is too one dimensional.
At the press conference for 'Bond 20', Brosnan already made it known that he will be doing 'Bond 21', after that, he doesn't know. Brosnan is presently 48 but will be 49 this May.
Regarding who will be in the running to be the next James Bond, Australian born Hugh Jackman. Jackman is 33, will be 34 later this year. Since Brosnan will be doing 'Bond 21' in 2004, that would make Jackman eligible to take on the role in 2006, which would than make him 38, an ideal age to play James Bond.
Another person well-suited for the role would be Dougray Scott, who is 36 and Scottish, Bond's origin (He'll be 41 in 2006).
The third possibility is Christian Bale, who is 28 now. He'll be 32 in 2006 (Connery was 32 when he stepped into the role), which would make him almost the best one for the job, considering Ian Fleming's Bond started serving Her Majesty's Secret Service in his early 30's. The Bond producers may need to put a new kind of spin on the franchise after Brosnan steps down. Bale is Welsh.
Other things to consider as well, the guy who steps into these shoes has to make a big splash right away, considering what Brosnan has done for the franchise. So these three actors need to compile an impressive line of movies before they can improve on Brosnan's Bond. They also need some massive box office movies behind them before it'll be worth anything to Bond fans (Did anybody know who Timothy Dalton was before he took the role?)
And Tom Cruise can never play James Bond. Late Bond producer Albert 'Cubby' Broccoli left only one instruction; He who utters the famous moniker "Bond, James Bond" must be of the British Commonwealth. These were also author Ian Fleming's final instructions before his death.

Oddly enough, Roger Moore was 46 when he took over from Sean Connery in 1973. He finally left the role at age 58 in 1985 with 'A View To A Kill'.
Connery himself was 32 when he first played Bond in 1962. He quit the role at age 41 in 1971 but made a return to it in 1983 with 'Never Say Never Again', at age 53.
In 2004, Pierce Brosnan will be 51 when he plays Bond for the fifth and final time.

Dougray Scott, yeah he'd be okay and Matthew McConaughey, but the accent might be against him. But he has a good Bond look I reckon

Robin Williams? Patrick Stewart? What are you guys smokin?

I think Stephen Dorf would make a rockin bond, and since my opinion is the only one that matters, I expect he will be the next bond http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif
