Wow. Ok, when if he was that old, this is still a bit of a shock to me.
Rest in peace, you did your share.

This is terrible news. John Frankenheimer was a great director and will be greatly missed. I suspected something was wrong when he dropped out of the new Exorcist film, but I didn't know it was that bad. I suppose a stroke is a stroke.
Rest in peace.

Damn, I didn't expect this. I thought the guy had at least a couple more movies left. And his last was Reindeer Games. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif

Actually, Cyclonus, his last film was the recent HBO film PATH TO WAR, which garnered many critical acclaims. But his body of work will not be forgotten, and neither will his memory.

I didn't know he was planning to direct Exorcist IV. If he had helmed the project, it might have put his career back on track. Who's replacing him? Hope it's not some hack.

I want to make it clear that I wasn't trying to make light of the situation in my posts. When these things happen, it's natural for your mind to get overexcited.

The people at the IMDb just plain don't work. The entire site is a glamorized message board.
J.K. -- I visit that site daily almost.
So long, John, and thanks for all the movies.
Sad news indeed. I just bought his film PROPHECY on DVD a couple of days ago which I highly enjoyed.
He will be missed.

He may be gone, but his legacy will live on through the movies he made.
Rest in peace John, you were the last one of hollywoods greatest directors.

I just don't believe it! What a shock! He didn't even make a proper last movie...
Even though i didn't really liked his work i liked his "eye"(his directing eye).
Rest in Peace John. Say "Hello" to Stanley for me...

This is truly a sad day.
One of my undoubted fave directors SECONDS, THE TRAIN, I WALK THE LINE, BLACK SUNDAY, so many forgotten gems along with undeniable classics like MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ, ALL FALL DOWN and SEVEN DAYS IN MAY.
a heartbreaking loss to the world of cinema.
