Last year Steve Buschemi, who played all the weird charecters in Adam Sandler movies, settled down and made a drama called "Ghost World" (9/10) , where he received awards and nominations galore. But I think Adam Sandlers choice is the most daring and possibly best.
Adam Sandler is a very talented actor comedy wise, but this fall he is showing us a new dramatic side of himself in PT Anderson's Punch-Drunk-Love This could be his time for an award, possibly best actor. I think that making a serious movie is a wonderful move for Sandler, and his performance was hailed in this review: http://www.boxoffice.com/scripts/fiw.dll?GetReview?&where=ID&terms=6738 along with this other review that seems to say a few nice things: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hollywoodreporter/cannes/review_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1473890 Don't Get me wrong though, I love Adam Sandler movies: Yes, even Little Nicky! I love the slapstick, but I think that Sandler is more talented then that! So more power towards him!
Who needs to settle down and make a good movie?! (in a different genre that they are known for)

I'll tell you one thing. Jim Carrey NEEDS to get back to comedy before it's too late.

Meg Ryan, probably.

Steve Buscemi did other dramas before Ghost World like Reservoir Dogs, Fargo & Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead , so it wasn't a new genre for him.

Steve Buscemi has done everything, and well. I put him up there w/Kevin Bacon. They're both in EVERYTHING, but you never get tired of seeing them.

Steve Buscemi is also a director of notable talent. Hope he tries his hand again. Um...let's see - I'll say Jack Nicholson needs to play somebody other than Jack Nicholson. Still love him, mind, but I would like to see him play against type in something totally off the wall...!

I think he played totally against type in The Pledge. He wasn't doing any of his usual shtick. It was a very toned down good performance.

I loved The Pledge, but Jack Nicholson, legend though he is, was no different in this movie than he was in, say, Blood and Wine or The Crossing guard. I think of something like Mars Attacks as anomalies (because he waas above the material, as was everyone save Pierce Brosnan), but he's still Jack Nicholson and I fail/can't see the performances sometimes. John Wayne did this for years, also, but let's agree - Jack Nicholson can do whatever he likes, he is, one of the greatest living actors of his generation. Maybe a musical next, to stretch the old CV...?

I forgot about Steve Buschemi! He was really good in Fargo. I have never seen Reservoir Dogs, but heard good things.

He get's scalped towards the end. I saw him in a docu. about John Waters, (Hairspray, Pink Flamingos, Polyester, etc.,) and he said he would like to play him if there were ever a movie made about him. Fargo was by far the best!

I think I would just about die if he joined the cast of the upcoming movie Chicago. But somehow I can't see Jack skipping and dancing and belting out high notes. I would pay good money to see that though!

I think that Jim Carrey is wonderful with what he is doing now. He is an excellent actor, and I would love to see him in more dramas, rather than make an ass of himself in everything he's in.
I think Matthew Perry needs to get out of comedy and try something else (it really doesn't matter what it is, just as long as it's different). To tell the truth, I think he needs to do something, or his career will be forever ruined (it might already be too late).

i agree with the matthew perry thing,i think for some odd reason,he has the chance to be a good detective type character in thrillers/suspense movies,i'd like to see him try it anyways.
