View Full Version : Good films you couldn't watch more than once

This is an idea that came to me while I was watching A Clockwork Orange:-

The following films I think are fantastic. But I could never watch them again becaudse of the following reasons:

A Clockwork Orange A superb film, one definately worthy of the 1971 Best Picture Oscar. However, like Alex's plight in the film. I just feel really sick when I watch it, probably as Kubrick intended.

Midnight Express Definately the Best Film of 1978, however, I cannot bear to sit through it again to see William Hayes punishing sentence within a Turkish Prison. When I watched it initially, I felt like I was there with him. The true story factor also adds extra whack.

Platoon This film really depressed me. I felt sick during some of the scenes. Very surprised it won the Best Film Oscar. It's a good film, but not the least bit uplifting!

I'm gonna say The Insider as it was a good film with good performances but I just couldn't sit there and watch it again.

Add Jeepers Creepers to that list, just cause the last 20 mins of the film sucked big time.

I couldn't force myself to sit through To Ride With the Devil or The Firm (Tom Cruise version). Both good films but not my cup of tea.

All I need is the movie poster and I'm set.

Now for me, it's One Flew Over The Cuckko's Nest;2nd best Nicholson performance ever.My only problem...the ending was pretty sad.I told my Mom a little while back that the movie wasn't sad,but thinking back on it the ending did get to me though.

It took me 3 years to watch Schindler's List after it came out, and I doubt I can ever sit through it again. It is a wonderful movie, but just toooo heavy to sit through for repeated viewings.

I would say Requiem for a Dream would have to top the list. Never before have I so desperatly wanted to turn off a good movie.

Long, important movies aren't the type of movies to watch more than once, like Schindler's List or Gandhi, since there's not much reason to watch again

Traffic: I absolutely loved the flick, picked up it on dvd and it has sat on my rack ever since. For some reason I just haven't had the urge to pop it in yet.

Magnolia: Probably in my top 20 if not top 10 list of all time fav films and after watching it 2 or 3 times just again haven't felt the need to watch it again. I've watched the Magnolia Video Diary on the 2nd disc more than I have the actual movie.

Sixth Sense/Unbreakable: See above.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest was slightly depressing, but it was such a powerful movie. Lots of meaning, and great performances by Jack Nicholson, Danny de Vito, Brad Dourif, and Christopher Lloyd. The whole cast was great, but these are the only people whose names I know.

I don't think there has ever been a great movie that I wouldn't watch again. Maybe I'm just different.

I love Apocalypse Now Redux, but I put the DVD in the other day and got an hour and a half into it and just couldn't be arsed watching anymore. Great film, just the second half is long-winded.

I agree with CAST AWAY. I also liked PAY IT FORWARD a lot, but I don't think I could watch it a second time without falling asleep.

Probably you were already completely blinded by the overuse of blurry, crappy colored lenses the first time around and had no further need to view the material.

The original Apocalypse Now was brilliant, as was Redux, but I just can't watch Redux more than twice. I've seen it twice, and it's a brilliant movie. I can't watch it more than once in a while.

I agree on Leaving Las Vegas, excellent film but depressing as fu*k. I can re-watch the begining of the movie, before he gets to Vegas, but after that I cant take it.

Also, Alive. Great movie, but you only have to watch it once to get the idea.
