The movie is set to be released in 2003 and no cast has been selected yet.

This has been adapted from the novel by Anne Rice.

After drinking the Elixir of Life, the Egyptian pharoah Ramses the Great becomes condemned to an eternal life, forever walking the Earth. Finally falling asleep over 1,000 years after his reign (during the time of the life of true love, Cleopatra), he is awakened 2,000 years later in 1914, by Lawrence Stafford, an archaeologist. Eventually brought to Stafford's mansion in England, Ramses falls in love with Stafford's daughter, Julie, setting out on a plan to use her to bring Cleopatra back to life. What this leads to, however, is more than Ramses had ever bargained for...

I can't wait for more news on the movie because I have read the book and I thought that it was excellent.

Don't get your hopes up. The other upcoming Rice adaptation "Queen of the Damned" is said to be going straight to video.

That might be true, but have you read the novel "Ramses The Damned"? You won't be able to read it less than twice, I can gurantee you that!

No, The last Rice novel I read was "Memnoch the Devil". "Ramses the Damned" is "the Mummy" isnt it?

Is the book your referring to "Ramses the Damned" the same book as "The Mummy" just with an alternate title?
