How can I phrase this correctly . . . what on God's green earth happende to Resident Evil? As far as video game movies, I believe that this one would do the best as a live action movie. (Don't get me started on the whole Tomb Raiser thing!!!) I have seen the supposed film change directing hands three times, fron George Romero, to Sam Raimi, to John Carpenter, to oblivion!!!
George didn't get it because Capcom didn't like the script, Raimi decided that he didn't want to get involved with horror films again (Seen The Gift yet? He lied.), and Carpenter said that he was too busy with the sequals to Vampires and Body Bags. Well if you ask me that just plain sucks! We as horror fans are due for another relentless helping of new zombie films, as there have not been many made for quite some time . . . so why not have it be a film that could have some potential?
Casting would be a breeze as well! See, it's like this; Val Kilmer as Albert Whesker, Jon Rhys-Davies as Barry Burton, Jill Valentine could easily be played by Neve Campbell, and hey, if you really want to draw a crowd, have Brad Pitt play Chris Redfield. Although I believe that Skeet Ulrich would do the part better. Hey, Brad Zwickers could be played by Freddy Prinze JR., and Rebbecca Chambers could be played by hmmm, any suggestions? Somebody will no doubtedly say Jennifer Lopez, but who ever thinks that would be crazy. How about Juliet Lewis?
The hardest part of the movie would be the special effects for the rottweillers and the Goliath, but hey, it's all done with computers these days, right?
Guys, help me out here and give me some feed back on this one, yes?

"Resident Evil" is in production right now. It was written and is being directed by Paul Anderson ("Event Horizon") and the stars I know of are Milla Jovovich ("The Messenger") and Michelle Rodriguez ("Girlfight"). It is set for release on October 26, 2001 (subject to change).

I've been waiting a while for Resident Evil the movie (called Resident Evil: Ground Zero) as well, but from I've heard about it, I'm afraid that it won't live up to the games. Case in point:

A) George Romero wrote several scripts for the movie and was going to direct, CAPCOM didn't like any of the screenplays and fired him.

B) *spoiler* Its about a freakin computer gone nuts and some scientists were mutated in a lab accident *end spoiler*

Don't sound too good to me, but maybe it'll surprise me. I put a link to a website that has tons of info about it (after you search for the movie anyway).

Well...since it's based on the video game, of course that is the story, I mean, that's what happened in the game...in fact, if you played the game you would probably know what happens in the film...they are going to stick close to the game...

Where is the dreaded "T" virus in all of this computer madness? I have played all of the RESIDENT EVIL games, and in not one were the people turned into because of a computer, so to speak. A computer mess up, but still the same. That is almost like saying that DOOM was caused by bad take out!

I know the movie will be a big budget messup with Anderson at the helm, but I'll go for the love of ANY zombie movie.

I thought that you horror fans of the RESIDENT EVIL series would be happy with the new news that I have come accross about the movie!
It appears that Mr. Anderson has as well decided to turn down RE, but with the release of The Gift, Sam Raimi has decided that he has once again found the "Passion" in horror films and decided to take on the zombie fest we know as Resident evil . . . he even already has a script!!!
It also is an uncomfirmed rumor that Bruce Campbell will be playing the traitor to the group, Albert Whesker!!! We get to see Bruce as a bad guy, how cool is that? It goes into production this April and should be done in time for . . . Christmas 2002?
