Exorcist Prequel

I just heard that they are officially going to do a prequel to the Exorcist. It suppose to be about Father Merrin.... I'm kinda torn about this. I think it's gonna suck, but yet I know I will be intrigued enough to see it in theaters. Personally they need to leave on the good note they did with the third one. Any opinions on this one?

I heard about this one as well, will it suck? I don't know. The director of The Exorcist III has been said to have taken the job on this one as of yet, and William Peter Blatey is writing it as well. That combonation is almost to make a box office smash, but will horror fans like ie as well? As the script is not available on the net, as of yet, we won't know until we are lucky enough to read it.
I knew that there was a sequel coming when they re released the first into the theater, but a prequel? I'm not too sure . . .

If they're going to cast a younger actor as the younger version of Max Von Sydow's character, either Jude Law or Ewan McGregor would be excellent.
