Just saw "Valentine." Sucks. Thoughts you guys would want to know.
The stalkings are suspenseless, the killings are relatively bloodless (though two were pretty gory), and the rest of the movie was dull, dull, dull. And the killer wears a Cupid mask. A Cupid mask for godsake. It makes the parka in "Urban Legend" look almost sinister.

Ironically, it's the same director as URBAN LEGEND. This guy should go back to "suspense" school...an element that was waaaaaaaay missing in this movie.
Plenty of teasing though....boring!

Dude, I saw Valentine a week ago at the sneak preview that they held at The Man's Chinese Theater, was I happy . . . hell no! I think that this a movie that brings up one of my points; HELLRAISER:INFERNO should have went to the theater. It was a way better movie with a hell of a lot more suspense! I don't understand why the movie studios will put crappy horror movies like Bride Of Chucky and Valentine in the theater, but groovy movies like Wish Master !! and Strange Lands (Which did have a limited release) straight to video. Not that Wish Master II was the best film ever made, but it was a hell of a lot better than most. Valentine made Pumpkinhead 2 look like an A movie!!! I don't recommend this film to ANYBODY AT ALL!!!! I would much rather see people waste their hard earned money on Urban Legend 2, if you can call that a movie. /ubb/frown.gif

ARGH!!! A huge disappointment, even though I went in knowing it would be a large rip-off of holiday-themed slashers. I at least expected it to be a little FUN!!! In the interview on this site, the writers of VALENTINE claim that the movie is scary, but they must have seen a different cut than what I saw Thursday night. Completely boring and uninspired. Here's to a great opening weekend for HANNIBAL on February 9.
I haven't seen VALENTINE yet but I really want to. I've been waiting for this one for awhile and I'm excited it's finally here. Denise Richards is so hot, so is Katherine Heigl who was also in Bride Of Chucky. For gore fans I heard this one is pretty bloody, it's supposed to be bloodier than other slasher flicks. Most critics are saying that this one is really bad but what slasher movie (besides the excellent SCREAM) did critics actually like. They wanted to return to the 80's style slasher flicks with this one. The only thing I was wondering is if they were going to go back to the way 80's slasher flicks were than how come they're isn't any nudity. Not that a movie can't be good without it but some doesn't hurt, especially if it's from Denise Richards. Anyway, I actually heard that this movie was good from some people and who doesn't enjoy a good slasher flick now and then, some people may complain about them but deep down you know ya love em'. They're just a lot of fun, just go and have a good time, turn your brain off for awhile, and I'm sure this one will be enjoyable too. I might have to wait until next weekend to see it but I can't wait. They say that if this one does good this weekend then they want to make it a franchise and have a new one come out every year around Valentine's Day. Of course someone said that with it's ending how would you be able to have a sequel. It's Hollywood, if a movie does good, they'll find a way to make a sequel. In the mean time, just check this one out and have a good time, I'll keep checking back to see how people are liking it. I hope it is good and isn't a big disapointment because I'm really excited for this one...
Enjoy...
P.S. for the person who didn't like Cherry Falls, I know everyone has their own opinion and all and I can respect that, but I thought it was great. Even though some of the scenes and the music resembled SCREAM, but this movie was on a whole different level than SCREAM. I recommend CHERRY FALLS to any horror or slasher fan... It was great...

Oh Mike, to each his own man. I know everyone has their own tastes and if you liked CHERRY FALLS then that's cool. Not everyone likes the same things.

VALENTINE makes CHERRY FALLS and URBAN LEGENDS: FINAL CUT look like CITIZEN KANE and CASABLANCA!!!

I waited along time to see that movie and when I finally get to see it, it turns out to be one big piece of shit. I'll give it some credit though, the weapons and kill scenes were very creative and that fuckin mask was creepy.

AHHHHHHH!!!!!
Okay, let me start off by saying this i really had fun watching this movie. I live in Detroit and saw it with "My Couzins", (Slang for Black People who are tremendously GHETTO!!) And that means you have loud mouthed teenaged girls screaming at the stupid girls on the screen..."DON'T GO IN THERE YOU DUMB....."
Well, let me say this..."DON'T GO AND SEE THIS DUMB.... MOVIE!".
This could have been Micheal Meyers for the new generation. It's a Micheal Meyers sequel, in other words, we could have done without this.
It sucked. I will admit though. I LIKED THE MASK. Dude was rather mean spirited too. I loved his approach.
Why did it take four people to write something that could have been so simple. The victim here was poor JM (Our killer) His kills were cut, saturated and made easy to swallow. COME ON YA'LL!!! Give me gore. So i say wait for the hopefully blood drenched DVD release and until then, wait for my little piece of pshyco horror, "Bohemia".

this is one of those films where they should have cut out ALL the exposition and just let the killer do his stuff. At least that way some of the murders would have made sense in a random kind of way. They started off with such a good idea and then they blew it. (And I never once believed they were in San Francisco, did you?)
I still haven't seen this movie, it's not in any theaters around me anymore... DAMN, now I'll have to wait until video. I'm sure I'll probably like it, even if it's not great (which I'm sure it will be) I'll probably at least be entertained by it, and I think the ending sounds cool. Well, I don't know exactly how it ends and I don't want to, I want to see it for myself, but not exactly knowing who the killer is FOR SURE for a change will be nice. Plus, it has Denise Richards, love her... Warner Brothers was talking about turning this into a series, I wonder if they still plan on it since this one only made a little over 20 million $$$, of course it only cost 10 million to make so
maybe they still will make a sequel and a whole series. Even if this one is bad (Which it just can't be), I'd still see a sequel. I don't know what it is but I see sequels even if they look sorta stupid or I didn't like the first one, I'm a sucker... I hope they do make a sequel, we need a new horror series, SCREAMS over now. Do you think they will make a sequel??? Has anyone heard anything about a sequel LATELY??? I think Valentine would have done better but it's second weekend playing was when HANNIBAL opened, so that took most of it's audience. They should have opened it a couple weeks sooner than they did so they could have made more money. I think when it's released on video this summer it will do pretty damn good on the rental charts. I know that's when I'll be seeing it since I missed it in theaters... Most of you guys said it was really bad, it can't be "THAT" bad... Did it have any good qualities??? God, I'm so hyped up and excited
to see it, but I have to wait until video... I'm just begging to be disapointed, I shouldn't be anticipating it so much, I hope I'm not disapointed... What would you guys give it for a grade... Use a 5 ***** star rating system, or a letter grade, or on a scale of 1-10, what would you give it??? Plus, back up your rating with a reason, a GOOD one...

Rating? Out of five asterisks I give "Valentine" *. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 2. Reasons? As I stated, "The stalkings are suspenseless, the killings are relatively bloodless (though two were pretty gory), and the rest of the movie was dull, dull, dull."
It's the "dull, dull, dull" that brought the movie down a full eight points from ten. Seriously, dude, "Valentine" is predictable, boring when the stalkings aren't in progress, and only mildly more interesting when the stalkings are in progress. I say "only slightly more" because every cliche in the book is trotted out. If you've seen more than three slasher flicks in your life you will know what's going to happen exactly when it's going to happen.
Also, I couldn't care less about any of the characters, mainly because I don't believe anyone like them exists outside of badly written movies. The attempts at humor were weak, and did I mention the killer wears a Cupid mask. Granted that might seem creepy to some, but to me he/she looked like a choirboy on thorazine.
Really, it is that bad.
The 2 points I awarded it go to the cinemaphotography. It's a pretty slick-looking movie. The lighting and screen composition are very good, giving the stalking scenes a cool enough look to appear pretty sharp in a still or a clip. Also, the guy who plays Angel stars, and it was kinda neat seeing him on the big screen.

I don't mind if it has cliche's or if it's predictable, after seeing a ton of horror/slasher movies their isn't really anything original to expect anymore. And what movie doesn't have cliche's ? I don't mind if I will guess what's going to happen, I want eye candy, gore, and a decent ending. I don't really need any scares because I never really get scared, so that don't matter. I also like it if a movie looks good, that's enough for me to like a movie alone. Plus, I happen to think the cherub/cupid mask looks pretty damn scary!!! So, if those are the only main complaints I still think I'll like it... I'm not that hard to please... I liked STIGMATA, and I think the main reason was because Patricia Arquette is hot, she looks great, plus the music was cool and the way it was shot was beautiful and it looked great, It was kinda like a music video and I liked that... I still think I'll like VALENTINE and I don't think anyone will get me to doubt that until I see it and find out for myself... You can try but I think I'll like it...
