Hey all, the Clive Barker fan is back in bussiness again, as I love the man as a writer . . . but after the tragedy of Candy Man 3, do we really need a sequel? These have just become movies for Tony Todd to strutt his stuff as a bad guy. Let's face it, he was the only thing that made 3 even remotely worth watching. 2 was a deacent sequel, but it still missed Virginia Madsen, and that Barkeresque flair that ol' clive does so well.
Good news though, somehow they got Madsen to return for part 4 (?). Yes it is true, this may be the ultimate showdown in any Barker film to date . . . The Candy Man vs. an ex victim. What do you all think? /ubb/biggrin.gif

Ugh. Candyman was the first horror movie to scare me in a long time when it was released. The second movie was visually impressive, but the story seemed rushed and there were way too many "slasher" type murders. Didn't see the third, don't want to. Ditto the fourth.

Tony Todd is a great actor, and I'd love to see him in more genre movies, but he doesn't have to keep playing Candyman over and over again. Is this his only gig? Someone write this man a movie!

Incedently, long, long ago I heard a movie based on the short story "In the Flesh" was in the works. This was right after the success of the first Hellraiser, when all of Clive's stuff became hot property.

Time rolls on ...

Obviously, it never made it into production (though I think a script was written). I'd love to one day see it, though (or make it /ubb/wink.gif ). What short Barker fiction would you like to see translated into film, Danzig?

For the record, I could make a truly kick-ass Rawhead Rex. I've "filmed" the entire movie in my head.

Watchman, I love Tony Todd, did you ever see his role in The Crow or his bit part in The Wishmaster? Even though his role in The Night Of The Living Dead was admirable, it still didn't touch Duane's!!!!
As for a horror film, I would do The Great And Secret Show, followed by Rawhead Rex. It is nice to see that I am not the only person that was appauled by the version that was out!!!
Want to get together and work on a movie script? Seriously!!! /ubb/smile.gif

TONY TODD, admirable? He was a HELLUVA lot better than that dude who played his character in the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, Duane whatever? C'mon! That fight scene with him and Cooper in the 68 version was fucking laughable! Hmm, they're not hitting each other are they?!!! Well duh - piss poor stage fighting, they could'
ve tried practising!!!!
Anyway, I'd like to see a big distributor pick up a 4th CANDYMAN movie. It needs the budget. I thought the 3rd one was a good effort, but it seriously lacked budget!! There is so much more they could do with the series, it's far from dead!

I am not sure there is enough interest in a fourth Candyman for it to manage a theatrical release. The second film did pretty poorly, despite getting some decent reviews.I think if there is one made,it'll be like part 3.

Ashley Lawrence back for Hellraiser 6 and Virginia Madsen back for Candyman 4? Sounds like Clive's been spreading his influence around a bit again /ubb/smile.gif

Hey, as much as I love ol' Clive, remember that he really does not have much to do with his horror stuff anymore. Virginia coming back is the classic move for a horror movie . . . if the premise of the first sequals didn't work, bring back a nemesis that was groovy in the first place that made it worth while in the first place, save the franchise. Look at A Nightmare On Elm Street III, The New HELLRAISER, H20, Frday The 13th: JASON LIVES . . . the list goes on. Get into a story that the audience is formatable with, familiar with, and sympathetic to. That is how horror movies work lately. The bad guys don't change, the victims do. People are just more interrested if say Silvia and Jake From Slasher ! survived or died and could pose a threat to boogyman A and 2 and 3 sucked. Now it's time to resurect Silvia and Jake from Slasher 1 to Slasher 4, make them older and smarter, and able to out wit the Boogyman. See how it works all, and we as an audience love it!!!

Morgan, Duane what's his name, did a fine job in his role in the original, for the time it was made. Can you even begin to appreciate the art of a b/w film?

Sorry, No. Besides, i shouldn't have to. What have black n white movies ever done for me apart from waste my time and bore me to death?! I'd wather watch THE NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1990) a million times before i watch the original again. I don't want to fall out with anyone over my hate for black n white movies, remember, everyone has an opinion.
