For starters I am new to this forum and was curious about how people would bring back one of horror movie's greatest icons. Unfortunately the human skin wearing texas badass's debut was his only high point. In TCM part 2 he became a cartoon like pussy, In part 3 he was redeemed somewhat but alas he still did not have the original fierceness and in part 4 he played second fiddle to Matthew McCounaghey. So if you were commisioned to write and/or direct TCM 5 how would you go about making Leatherface scary again?

well instead of him being with a family i would make him be on his own, and not give him a heart and especialy not let him wear a dress.

this is the series i would like to see brought back..HOW??im not sure..
it would definitely have to have Leatherface..after all he hasnt been killed yet..he needs some type of family around,as cuz if its just Leatherface himself it would be sort of stagnant,as Leatherface doesnt talk and is more of a jungling retard...NO,he doesnt need to wear dresses or be known as a transexual..it does add a nasty element to him,but its not needed...
im not sure how they can bring the series back..where would they have it take place??they need a change from the wooded setting, but then again i dont see Leatherface living in the city,so its hard to say...im sure there are people out there trying tobring him back, but it will be hard to do with success as the series has been butchered by parts 2 and 4...part 3 was solid!!!they should take it from the ending of part 3...
i still dont believe there will EVER be a film as intense as TCM 1...it would be impossible to capture that old, disturbing feeling again...god,i love that movie!!!

i actually liked part 2 because of the ending and the beginning when he buzzes that guys head off in the car chase scene. Other than that i agree that part 3 was solid and I never saw part 4. From what I hear, i'm not missing anything.
The best idea i could come up with for a new reborn Leatherface is get rid of the fucked up family. Kill them off. show leatherface lose some weight so he can run after people faster. Consider he's running with a chainsaw, the dude needs to bulk up. Get him out of the dresses I hear he was wearing in the last one and put some balls on that killer mother fucker! I liked the attitude in part 3's tagline
After 13 years of silence, the buzz is back!.
Bring the element of horror back into the series and you would have a more serious looking killer. like i said before, kill his freakin family and he'd be one pissed off canibal not taking any shit.

The family makes it all work. Leatherface is mentally retarted so he needs a family or co-worker to guide him. It wont be the same without grampa... but taking it up after part 3 is an excellent idea... maybe have a reunion with Sally? Or Leatherface could be living in the sewers with his daughter, you know, feeding on unsuspecting victems at night...or something, they gotta bring it all back!!!

Umm...there doesn't ever need to be another TCM film.
They all suck.
*I know I'm going to catch a lot of stuff about this, but I just hated the films. Fourth one was the best, cuz it knew it sucked*

I thought Part 4 was the most psychologically twisted of all of them, but I agree that Leatherface is not too scary in it. 4 was better than three, though, in my opinion. I've seen three three times, and it's just LF runung through the woods, chasing some whiny broad you'd wish he'd catch.

Leatherface's transexuality was hinted at in the first film. Just witness the Pretty Woman face he wears at the dinner table. A deleted scene also showed him putting on makeup. As Tobe Hooper said, Leatherface doesn't have a personality. You remove the mask and it's just blank. He needs the mask to provide personality traits.
Also, has anybody noticed that Leatherface is the ONLY slasher who has never been unmasked?

I don't think the magic, of the original could be achieved. The original was "special" due to the lack of budget, and the freshness of the storyline. Since then we've had countless rip-offs, and remakes. Any Leatherface movie done by a big studio, will be a disapointment, due to the highly expensive special effects, and the fear of the MPAA. The only way a new Leatherface would be succesfull is if an independent film maker, with little budget an a creative mind, had the balls and did a film based on the series. That won't happen due to copyright laws, and generally a film makers first film, is based more on a personal level rather than a genre film. There is exceptions of course like Tarantino(Reservoir Dogs) Rodriguez(El Mariachi) and Jackson(Bad Taste).

Leather Face was extremely scary in the first film and moderately in the third one, as far as Next Generation (Or The Return Of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and 2 went, it was all down hill!
First of all, give the man back his Chainsaw! Where was the chainsaw in the last one? Also, quit trying to read into Leather Face . . . who cares? He is a horror movie killer, and that is that, make him an animal, a relentless killing machine that may be manipulated by others, but for god's sake, don't make him a drag queen again!
Leather Face has always been a follower, that's in his nature. Put someone behind the Mayhem that will make it total loss! He needs a purpose as a character again, and chasin' college students, and stragglers around the woods just isn't working anymore.
Who knows, maybe it is time for old Leather Face to get a funeral finally, but I think that he has one last scare and horror left in him . . . as long as they get the right writers and directors behind him again. Oh, and don't make the same mistake with V that they made with III, keep the gore in, it's TCM for god's sake . . . we who pay expect to see gore that makes us want to puke our pop corn back up!

I'd drop the sequels and pretend like they never happened. That's the only way I can think of; they ruined the series.
Honestly, I doubt another movie will ever be made, anyway. Part 4 was hardly seen (for good reason), part 3 was severely cut up and only managed a little over $1 million in theaters. Part 2 didn't light the series on fire, either. And if it was made, in this day and age it would no doubt go strait to tape. I think the series should be left alone, to avoid any further embarrassment.

Crazy O'l Loomis is right TCM isn't the same whithout grandpa, but grandpa looked like he got younger every movie. If they made a movie after the last TCM how young will grandpa look? I think they should make a prequel to one of the TCM's, it'll keep granpa looking older. To make leather face scary again I would probably have leather face sneak up on people more and kill them, and let the camera see quick shots of him attacking someone (like in Texas 1) so you really can't see what he looks like. All you know is that he is a killer mercilessly killing people. I tried to make as much sense out of thats as i could so...

never liked the sequels of TCM, but if you did bring him back, take it back where it all began I mean hell I think it the murders news would of buzzed down and have him back but this time cut down on the family hell make it more intersting then have a bunch of teens (As always) go by the house like in part one but the empty one. They all chill have fun and decided to spend the night there have one of them tell the story of Leatherface even have flash back type thing so it make more effect! But I think the bestest twist would be is if the main star is a guy and have it he and 2 friends live near the end but then one friend gets killed and then have his so called girlfriend turn out to be part of Leatherface family the niece of Leatherface? Have Leatherface in the movie without the dress, just have a butchers bib thing on like the 1st TCM...
And there you go maybe even have Leatherfaces family die like burn his house down..

Damn Cruelsky, I LOVE that idea!!!
I've never seen any of the sequels, but I did enjoy the first one.
The main thing that stuck in my mind was the girl screaming at the end for like 20 minutes. That was a head trip.

Oh and also maybe even have Point Of View scenes when a stupid person is running from Leatherface and then BOOM his in your face and its more scarier from a Point Of View! LONG LIVE POV
