View Full Version : Worst Actors out there

Crynot

Who would you guys say are the worst actors out there right now?

Most of the ones I can't stand are in comedy - like Norm Macdonald or Woody Allen (sorry to the Allen fans)

But even other genres hold terrible actors like Ben Affleck or Freddy Prince Jr.

what do you guys think?

I would have to say that the worst actor out there is Ben Affleck(although he was pretty good in Dogma).

One name springs to mind-

ADAM SANDLER /ubb/mad.gif /ubb/tongue.gif /ubb/mad.gif

I would have said Adam Sandler but Billy Madison is one of my favorite movies of all time mainly because that Veronica Vaughn is one fine piece of ACE - I know from experience dude.

I don't mind ben affleck, there is a hell of a lot worse than him!!! Sandler and Brendan Fraiser come to mind!

Adam Sandler is easily the worst actor of all time.

Quentin, I think your subconscious has preemptively blocked all memories of Pauly Shore in order to avoid serious mental damage.

Pauly "Buuuuuuuddyyyyy" Shore gets my vote for worst actor of all time.

Crynot

Keanu Reeves is probably the worst actor of all time even though the Matrix is good. I liked Brenden Fraiser Blast from the Past but I agree that he is pretty bad. I don't think Michelle Pfiefer can act all that great. And Sandra Bullock pisses me off - she is horrible.

QUENTIN

Pauly would have to be second, I think your right about my sub-conscious blocking him out though, whenever I try and think back to the night I was forced to watch many of his movies, all I remember is my friends laughing, me offering my soul to Satan to make it stop, Satan taking my soul, and then me blacking out for a few hours.

As for Keanu I believe he can be very bad...but given the right film he can also be, better than bad. I think his performances is River's Edge, My Own Private Idaho, and The Matrix were pretty good.

easy to sum up in 3 names:

Carrot Top, Pauly Shore, and Yahoo Serious

that's all I have to say about that.

I would like to change my pick to Pauly Shore. I completely forgot about him. Also, I think that Keanu Reeves was good in Bill & Ted. The movie wasn't great, but he plays the perfect surfer/stoner.

screamer581

Thank you Quentin, Yea Quentin can be pretty bad, but in some movies he isn't that bad.

Mankato
07-25-2000, 02:35 PM
I dont think Reeves is THAT bad, I mean some of his performances are laughable (Much Ado About Nothing) but he was ok in 'The Matrix' and it looks like he'll be ok in 'the Replacements' as well. We'll just have to see about his performance in 'The Gift' for any future bashing.

OOOOPS!!!!! I ment Keanu not Quentin, I don't know how Quentin can act personally.

Keanu's best performance is in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure where he plays a moron (which I believe he might be in real life). He is a bad actor, but c'mon, how can you hate a guy that says "Whoa!" so good? /ubb/wink.gif

How can you say his best performance is in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? Has no one seen My Own Private Idaho or River's Edge, he was actually very good in those, much better than in The Matrix or B&T.

Carrot Top and Pauly Shore disagree with me too. Sandler picks weird retard roles mainly so its hard to evaluate his ability. But, he was awesome in The Wedding Singer, where he was fairly normal so I'd have to give him credit for that role.

Yahoo Serious however is a genius. Not only does he direct, produce and write his movies, he isn't so bad at acting. I think that bad acting vibe you get off him sometimes is quite intentional. /ubb/wink.gif

Keanu was 'excellent' (no pun intended) in My Own Private Idaho. He was believable as the rad surfer dude type in the Bill and Ted movies. I liked him in Point Break too, but my judgement might have been slightly disturbed from the quality acting from his co-stars Swayze and Busey.

A little off topic, but why do people write "no pun intended" when obviously they intended the pun or they wouldn't have put quote marks around the word?

Sorry, just a little pet peeve of mine.

The name Jake Lotd pops out of my head and slaps me. He is the worst actor I have ever seen in my life! (Well maybe some movies I hvae made have worst acting but that is beside the point) His performance in Episode is /ubb/redface.gif totally embarrassing. (i hope the smilie worked /ubb/biggrin.gif theres another on) I was so glad when I heard someone else is going to be Anakin in episode II. Him and Jar Jar Binks really ruend the movie. Agreed Keannu Reeves is the worst. He is in a new movie oposite James Spader and Marissa Tomei where he plays a serial killer. It looks ridiculous. Sorry for Tomei who is actually pretty good to be stuck with such horrible actors, especially Reeves.

cmoose,

When I said 'no pun intended' I actually didn't intend for the pun. No, really! I use the word 'excellent' a lot and so does Ted Theodore Logan in the Bill & Ted movies. I just wanted to make it clear that I say 'excellent' with an enthusiastic tone but not that matching the exuberance of Keanu's character.

P.S. But you're right. A lot of people tend to add that line in nonchalantly, trying to make out that it was not pre-planned /ubb/biggrin.gif

Id like to state my opinion:

First of all, Ben Afleck may not be the best actor, but sometimes he's cute(and sometimes ugly)

Adam Sandler is a funny guy

and Keanu Reeves I though was very good in the Matrix;the perfect guy for the part(I loved that movie) And I agree about the "Whoa" thing /ubb/wink.gif LOL

As I sit here typing this, my wife just flipped the tv on and stopped on a movie that she would call one of her guilty pleasures, but probably has the worst little shit actor I've ever seen. His voice alone drives me freakin mad!!! The little red head on Problem Child. You've all seen him and probably watched the movie more than you want to admit. Don't know his name but I hate that little kid.

C'mon - you've gotta be kidding me - You may not like him (in fact, you may actively despise him) - but there is no way that Leonardo Di Caprio is the worst actor around. Anyone who's seen What's Eating Gilbert Grape would agree with me. Jake Lloyd on the other hand is truly, truly terrible.

Jake Lyod I can absolutly not stand same with Leo and Sandler /ubb/mad.gif. Keanu (or however it is spelled) Reeves is ok, not bad at all. I also found Woddy Allen to be quiet bad (judging from Sleeper). Now that was a dumb movie!

I can't believe all the hatred for Keanu Reeves. I think he was great in "Bill and Ted" (I mean for the type of movie it was, he was perfect) "Point Break" didn't suck for his break into action, which I am sure led to his role in "Speed". I respect his decision not to do the sequel. I admit that he has made some terrible choices in roles over the years, but I think that "The Devil's Advocate" and "The Matrix" more than redeem him for any previous mistakes. Come on didn't any of you see "The Devil's Advocate"? It was a classic as far as I am concerned. It reminded me of my favorite short story, "An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge". Both stories happened in a split second. Perfect hook! Oh I forgot to put my choice for worst actor. It would have to be Jennifer Love Hewitt. I can not stand to even look at her. She is just a giggly annoying little sex symbol for pre-pubescent boys.

2 words for worst actor:

ERIC ROBERTS!

Other Non-notables include:
I agree with Freddy Prinve Jr. (sux!)

.3 Steven Bladwin (minus his perfermonace in The Usuas Suspects)

.4 Claire Daines (stick to T.V.)

In 50 posts, I can't believe the name Christian Slater hasn't came out yet. Geez people! Along with him, there's Adam Sandler (with the exception of the Wedding Singer where like it or hate it, he did well). then Pauly Shore -- "Son in Law" was funny, but get a new character already! The same went for Chris Farley -- "Tommy Boy" was hillarious, and it all sucked after that.

As for Keanu, he holds his own quite well. give him a break. Ben Afflek is an awesome actor folks - sorry, and like him or hate him, I can't stand his pretty boy image, but Leo Decaprio is a great actor. He needs to do a movie like Brad Pitt did with Fight Club, and you'd see a lot of new Leonardo fans. Brad Pitt wasn't impressing anyone with 7 decades in tibet, or that horror film, "Meet Joe Black". He just needed a good come-back roll - as does Leo.

I would argue that Chris Farley's acting abilities rivaled that of John Belushi, and no one out there is trashing Belushi as an actor...

Have most people gone crazy? Or are they just jerk-offs?? If you can actually say with a straight face that Affleck or Reeves are the WORST actors of our time, then please see some films -- and you have no business commenting on film.

Freddy Prince Jr is horrible, and actually, I just saw the first film he was at least likable in -- "Boys and Girls."

Go see "Cube," that's an ensemble cast of bad acting.

DiCaprio was amazing in "Total Eclipse" "This Boys Life" Basketball Diaries" and "Gilbert Grape." Sometimes I think he's a dick too, but he can act. Damn I hate when people sacrifice objectivity to feed their own insecurities.

Jim Carrey - As a rule I avoid films by him, I find him too 'on'. Exceptions - The Truman Show, Man on the Moon, (the first half of)Batman Forever.

Keanu Reeves - Was great in River's Edge and Bill & Ted, then he became a beefcake actor and has only been mediocre ever since.

Michael Keaton - I dunno, he just annoys me.

Ronald Reagan - For the record, he was a pretty bad actor.

Geez, Jon Lap, it seems you can't let people have their own opinions. You tell people their wrong or their opninion have no validity. It's fine to want to argue a point or to try to get people to see things your way, but don't tell people that their opinions are wrong. I'm not saying this to start an arguement, it's just that most of your reply posts are of this nature. Lighten up and prove your point without telling us we are wrong. /ubb/biggrin.gif

This topic should be called "The most OVERRATED actors out there". Many of the "worst actors out there" mentioned in this topic are ranging from good to great.

Leonardo Di Caprio is a great actor. Just check Total Eclipse, This Boys Life, Basketball Diaries and Gilbert Grape. They were all exceptional performances and he has a very wide range. Even at his worst (Titanic) he is rather good.

All of the following have done at least rather good roles. Some even superb:

Ben Affleck (Chasing Amy, Dogma)
Jennifer Lopez (Out of sight)
Eric Roberts (Runaway train)
Claire Daines (Romeo and Juliet)
Christian Slater (True Romance, Heathers)
Jim Carrey (Man on the moon, Truman show)
Michael Keaton (Jackie Brown, Beetlejuice)

These guys are also pretty good at their best:

Brendan Fraser (God's and monsters)
Keanu Reeves (River's Edge, his best performance ever)

I have never seen anything good from these three:

Jake Loydd
Freddie Prinze Jr.
Adam Sandler

And I don't even know these two:

Pauly Shore
Chris Farley

But with there guys I can easily agree. They have always been bad actors:

Arnold Schwarzenegger
Jean-Claude Van Damme

...But that's besides the point, really. Arnold and Damme became stars because of their physical abilities rather than acting talent.

Ben Affleck a bad actor? I dont think so! He has very good comic ability, steadily developing dramatic talent and an affable charismatic screen presence. Keanu Reeves started off bad but is steadily improving. Pauly Shore ALWAYS SUCKED! God knows how he ever got a vehicle to star in, EVER!

Ben Affleck is NOT a bad actor. Check out his great performances in Chasing Amy and Dogma or his best role in Bounce as he portrayed his character with so much honesty and depth. He is a very GOOD actor.

Myst
12-10-2000, 01:01 PM
Hmm,

I do not have any idea why people are arguing that Brendan Frasier is one of the worst actors of all time.

He has done so many different movies in differnt styles of roles.

He was a goofy cave man in Encino Man, he played a tough jewish kid in "School Ties" and he was a harvard student in "With Honors." Not that the last two movies roles were all that different, but still, he is a great actor. He did great in "Blast from the Past" and, although I did not like the Mummy, he did a good job.

As for worst actors who really deserve it: Hmm, that is tough. Kurt Russel was good in his early stuff, but his latest stuff has almost tainted his reputation. David Arquette might be up there. I know I might get a lot of flack for this next comment, but Denzel Washington might be one of the worst actors. Although I loved Remember the Titans and many Denzel flicks, I think he is a very one dimensional actor. He plays the same role in all his movies. A tough, no nonsense type of guy who never smiles, yada yada yada...If he showed me some diversity in his films, my opinion might change of him.

Jon Lap
12-10-2000, 09:24 PM
Terminator... if I sound harsh particularly on this thread, it's because people like to pop shit! And my opinion is that someone COULD NOT have seen truly bad acting if they can admit with a straight face that actors like Ben Affleck, Keanu Reeves, Chris O'Donnell (Scent Of A Woman), Val Kilmer (The Doors), Sylvester Stallone (Rocky), and essentially everyone on these list's, that this is the ABSOLUTE worst that Hollywood has to offer... because then Hollywood is in good shape. I respect Halfanarcher... he never says that Micheal Keaton is "the worst", just not for his taste. I just feel many people here are confused... I think Tuukka touched on that too.

Tuukka... 100% /ubb/wink.gif

Myst... does Denzel Washington's one-dimensional acting mean he is "the worst"? Or does it label him a good, widely known character actor?

Here are some actors who couldn't emote sadness and frustration if they were kicked off a set... Micheal Gallagher, Tony Gillan, James E. Moriarty (Ten Benny). Frank Adonis and William DeMeo in (One Deadly Road). Notice you've never heard of them... that's because they SUCK... not to be confused with the bottom litter of Hollywood (who all have the capability of being in role, and getting people to feel for them in certain pictures).

Leonardo DiCaprio as "the worst"... pphhuu!!??

unicorn207

It seems like all of these people meantioned were awful in everything they have done but one or two things.

Therefore I nominate Elizabeth Berkeley. Not only would I not want to wake up with her next to me but she was so terrible in "Showgirls" a film I had to see to see how bad a movie could possibly be, that she opened the door for all actors to be given a second chance and to not be typecasted. A recent film she did which she was somewhat good in was "Getting Dick" (seriously that was it's name, I bet she thought it was a porno movie and she was getting a serious offer for one when she was told about it). She played a one-dimensional jilted ex who is pursued by Harlen Williams. She was also recently in NYPD Blue. She played a bimbo journalist. I couldn't watch it because it felt like a porno movie. I changed the channel.

And, the most nauseating female star would have to be Jennifer Love Hewitt...vomit inducing! Obviously, I Know What You Did Last Summer was not a great movie-going experience for me.
Apart from these, Freddie Prinze Jr. reminds me of a block of wood trying to do an awful Keanu Reeves impression, and Pauly Shore is the root of all evil.

1. Chevy Chase (i hated every single 'Family Vacation')

2. Leo DiCaprio (tight-ass who can't keep his fucking dick in his pants, in ANY of his movies...)

3. Jake Lloyd (couldn't have acted his way out of a paper bag in 'Episode 1')

5. Tom Cruise (overrated, not attractive at ALL)

Just my opinion

I have to disagree with a lot of these choices. Seems like a lot of them are alright actors, who happen to pick a couple of bad movies once in a while---example, I think Affleck's pretty good, but with cheez like "Armageddon" and "Reindeer Games" on his plate, can you really think he's entirely to blame? I liked both films in sort of a guilty pleasure way....He was good in "Dogma."

I do think Keanu needs some work, Van Damme's never been great (but listen to the physical abilities comment a few posts up), Denise Richards may be VERY nice to look at, but she has to be one of the worst actresses out there (Of course I'll probably watch anything she's in--heh, heh...)and my most hated actor of all time (even though I've never, ever seen him in a film that was anything more than trash, except possibly "Red Heat" for Arnold)----JIM BELUSHI!!!! And he keeps churnin' 'em out!!!!WHY!!! HOW!!!!

I also have an inexplicable liking for Christopher Lambert---his movies are never great, he plays the same character every time, no emotion---but there's just something about him...
