I wuz a bit confused about the identity of the Valentine killer so I e-mailed the screenwriter of the film Wayne Powers and asked him
STOP READING IF U HAVEN'T SEEN THE FILM!!!!!!!!
Here's what he had to say:
In earlier drafts of the screenplay, we saw snippets of what happened, intercut with Boreanaz's character cutting photographs out of the the yearbook. Yes, he did put Dorothy in the Cupid mask and rigged it so
she fell down the stairs. She winds up taking the fall for his crimes. He continues on, because they're are more victims-to-be in the yearbook.
So there u have it guys!

Yeah. Only by throwing logic and plausibilty completely out the window can a viewer make sense of the ending. If you had given up on the flick by about the third reel, like me, the "final twist" wouldn't have confused you a bit.

I didn't really think Valentine's ending was all that confusing. After all, the "blood from the nose" basically gave it up that the character of Adam Carr was the killer. After that, I just figured he dressed up Dorthy in the cherub costume, then threw her down the stairs, setting himself up to make the save for Kate.
Here's the real burning question:
The cherub costume fits Dorothy perfectly. Since she is considerably smaller than Adam, shouldn't it be bigger? And, in my humble opinion, Boreanaz was a lot bigger than the killer. Anybody else agree?

I TOTALLY agree with you, ANTBond007. You nailed the exact same thoughts I had after the movie was over with. But you know what? After arguing with some friends as to what REALLY happened and the plausibilty of the killer, we came to the conclusion that the movie isnt worth taking time to discuss anyway. What a stinker.
I haven't seen it yet and I didn't read who the killer is. I really want to see it though but it's not in any theaters around me anymore. So now I have to wait until video. I am so tempted to read who the killer really is but I won't, it's so damn tempting though.
Does anyone like it better though after they found out who the killer is, did it make a difference??? Does anyone want to see it again after finding out who the real killer is??? Is the killer a good one???
Move this to the General Movie talk forum please so people can comment on it since VALENTINE is now on video!!! Then people can see who the killer is and stuff after they've watched it... Thank You!
I finally saw VALENTINE today and right afterwards I had to come here and see what the ending was. I was expecting it to be something really confusing that you wouldn't figure out during the movie. But you know what? It turns out that the ending was exactly how I figured it. I didn't find it all that confusing like some people made it sound. I figured it out EXACTLY... I figured he was the killer and he just framed DOROTHY... It wasn't all that confusing...
