Liv Tyler plays Arwen in Peter Jacksons movies right? But in the books she barely speaks four lines and is not in the second at all. In an interview she said her parts were taken from an appendix of the Lord of the Rings. But this only deals with the characters past. Will her character be filled in through flashback or will she (as the trailer suggests) have more of a role or replace the role of Glorfindel (what it looks like in the trailer) Any help here people?

The appendix doesn't merely deal with the character's past. It deals with her and Aragorn in Rivendell, and as well as her and Aragorn after he is crowned king of Gondor.

Also, Arwen is replacing Glorfindel in the movies and is apparently in the Helm's Deep battle scene (though word has it that she played the role so poorly that a lot of it is getting cut).

Maybe Arwen as the same role in the movie than in the book. For Liv Tyler, it might be like a cameo, and they put her in the trailer hoping people will say "hey! the ARMAGEDDON girl! it's gotta be a big movie!"

Or maybe Scochlord is right. Wait and see.

Hmm Arwen in Helms Deep. How the hell does that work. She would have to be a part of the fellowship to get there - or go on her own. Even if she came down from Rivendell with the Rangers of the north she would still miss. I hope it is a cameo. Not to be a sad purist but you cant completely insert a previously underwritten character. Besides the appendix does not fit into the Lotr timescale
