I don't know schmoes, I'm just not getting it anymore... It's as though Hollywood is slapping us all in the collective face. Like we're all just a bunch of deer caught in one big headlight - the slightest hint of moving pictures on a screen is supposed to mesmerize us into checking our intelligence in at the door, willing to drool our way through an hour or two of nifty camera work.
This movie was so friggin' predictable I laughed aloud. How is it that "Gwennie" arrives at rehab greeted by a bunch of misfits, whom all seem to have been there for months, yet at the end of her tenure the misfits are STILL there to bid her farewell? What're they, ALL on some extended 56 day program?!
Every little sub-plot, hint of a back story or nuance was boiler-plate, cookie-cutter shit. It's insulting and aggravates me to no end to know that there's a group of schmucks out there who all agreed that this was good enough, "this'll occupy 'em." What's more is I know that we could all do something better (easily) if we were given the chance. I realize this argument is nothing new, but this movie just sparked an irritation inside me...
Anyway... Viggo may be a pretty face, but he can't act for shit. Sandra Bullock's a pretty face too, but I think she's about expended her range as an actress - I felt NOTHING. And why Steve Buschemi accepted this role I'll never know...
Maybe I didn't hate the movie, but I absolutely was not moved, touched, or inspired. "Blah" would be my review in a nutshell. To paraphrase a better man than I, it's good enough to see if you're in a pinch.
