Windtalkers delayed...

Shit man, I was looking forward to this movie! John Woo's war flick WINDTALKERS was supposed to open wide in November 2001, but has now been pushed back to June of 2002 according to Corona's Coming Attractions (http://www.corona.bc.ca/films/mainFramed.html).

Bummer.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!! This was the Fall movie I was looking forward to most- especially since it could have been a possible enhanced IMAX flick at the Mall of Georgia here. Well shit; this pisses me off.

What's the competiton like on the new release date for Windtalkers? To me it doesn't seem like summer movie popcorn material (or maybe that's the point). Does anybody think that its success will be hampered by its new date?

This sucks. I was really looking forward to this one! I have been waiting for it since I saw the preview before JP3, I must say it looks really good. First Time Machine, now this!

Another sucky likely move is "Gangs Of New York". Miramax has put its "Kate & Leopold" on that date meaning it 99% likely they will push back "Gangs Of new York".

They have to give Gangs some sort of limited release in 2001 to get into Oscar game. Other than that, it would be wise to move it to January-February, the christmas season is already too packed. LOTR definitely won't change the release date, but I think some movies will move away from it's way (a good decision). Time Machine already did, althought a partial reason was that they had to remove the destruction of New York in the movie... There are too many movies opening, and some will make a lot less money than expected because of that.
