I love dark comedies and I couldn't wait to see this movie, but I missed it in theaters. So I was happy when it came out on video this week. I watched it tonight and I must say I enjoyed it. It has some hot chicks, some cool music, and it was pretty funny. Of course some people may find some of the diologue offensive. But if you are a fan of dark comedies, such as Drop Dead Gorgeous, then you know what to expect.

The acting was pretty good and I liked the stars that were in this movie. Marla Sokoloff (TV's The Practice,Whatever It Takes), Marley Shelton (Valentine), Mena Suvari (American Beauty,American Pie), Rachel Blanchard (TV's Clueless,Road Trip), and James Marsden (X-Men,Gossip,Disturbing Behavior) all did great jobs, well, as good as they could do anyway. I was also happy to see a teen movie with barely any stupid teen movie cliches, that was a nice change.

My only real complaints are that I was expecting a little more from it, and that it was too short. It was only 81 minutes long, which is 1 hour and 21 mins, so I thought it could've been a little bit longer. But other than that Sugar And Spice is a fun time and I recommend it. Especially to fans of dark comedies. By the way, I don't know why so many people compared this to Bring It On, the only thing they have in common is cheerleaders...

Grade: 7/10

Ahhahahaha!

I liked this movie, but I was expecting a little more from it. It was fun and very enjoyable, the acting was good and it had some nice and funny lines.
I'm not sure about the rating, I'm between a 6/10 (B-) and a 7/10 (B-). I have the DVD so I think I'll see it again and the decide.

I'll leave it at 6/10 (B-) for now.

My rating for this one is a 6/10 (C+) now. I was a little easier on movies back then, and I was actually pretty disappointed by this one. It could have been so much more.

See what I mean here:

After reading that article Mike, I really want to see the R-rated version. It sounds a lot better than this actually decent movie (7/10), which was funny but seemed like it was cut. It would have made a lot more at the box office, I believe, if they had released the uncut version, and I did find it a little strange at the time that Mena Suvari of "American Beauty"/"American Pie" fame was doing a teen cheerleading comedy. It didn't seem like her. Now I know why.

I would LOVE to see the uncut version someday, but unfortunately, I doubt it will ever be released, since the movie wasn't all that big of a hit. This really pisses me off knowing that it could have been A LOT better. The R-Rated version sounds so much better than this one, which they really chopped to shreds.

Thought it was OK (7/10), but not great.
