Pollock (2000)
Director - Ed Harris
Cast - Ed Harris, Marcia Gay Harden

Pollock is the life and times of one Jackson Pollock, the famous painter in the 1940s. The movie takes us through the rise and of course downfall of his career brilliantly performed by Harris. Pollock is taken in by Lee Krasner (Harden) an artist herself. She basically takes care of him and builds his career as he is a little eccentric (as with most geniuses). Family problems and struggling with his painting career Pollock turns to drinking. He discovers the splatter from of painting which the brush doesn't touch the canvas. The painting scenes alone are worth the price of admission. After the high of his career he hits the downfall and he cannot deal with it and he meets his demise. I didn't know much about Pollock before the movie but was drawn in with the great performances. Harris losing to great thespian Crowe is an outrage. Highly Recommended.
