I was so disapointed in this movie. I can only recommend it for two reasons. First, is Jack Black. He was about the only person to consistently get any laughs out of out me. The other is Amanda Peet. She also was pretty funny and was super hot in the movie to boot. Also the drill sergeant from Full Metal Jacket was pretty damn funny too. It was nice to see him play a different character.
I usually get a kick out of Steve Zahn, but he just didn't do it for me here. Jason Biggs was pretty much useless. I didn't even get a single grin from him. The movie just went for too many easy laughs. The little cameo by Neil Diamond had lots of comedic potential, but was a letdown.
4/10
I really enjoyed this movie. It was FUN and FUNNY. I laughed a lot. And my favorite in the movie was Amanda Peet, I love that girl. She was supposed to be playing a bitch and she was my favorite character... It did go for the easy laughs but I laughed A LOT... It was a fun time. Everyone I've recommended it to has enjoyed it as well.
Grade: 7.5/10

I never checked this movie out in theaters, simply because I thought the trailer sucked, and it was PG-13, and I usually detest PG-13 comedies. Low and behold I rented it last week, watched it, and I was plesantly surprised by the film. Maybe because i rented the 'R' rated version which had slightly more swearing supposedly (and some boobs).
I love Amanda Detmer, what a hottie.
Is the R rated version available on video? I know it is on video. My video store don't carry the R rated version on video or DVD... I wish I could see it to see if it is different... Usually UNRATED or R rated versions of movies don't really offer anything new. For example American Pie, only one scene was different, they totally fooled me into renting it, so I rented both versions and it was a complete waste of money. I heard the UNRATED version of Road Trip is the same thing... Why can't they release a good UNRATED version for once. Anyway, has anyone seen the R version of Saving Silverman and the PG-13 one? Are they much different?
Anyway, I also thought the trailer looked crappy, that's also why I didn't see it in theaters. Then I saw it on video and I was very surprised, the previews didn't do it justice. It was funny and a very fun time. Both Amanda Peet and Amanda Detmer are hotties...
