Right up there with Silence of the Lambs, The Bone Collector and Seven is a movie about a serial killer I stumbled upon called Resurrection.
The fact that it was produced by the guys responsible for Highlander already lends credit to what could have ended up just another "killer on the loose flick" with a twist ending.
However, it is far from being "just another serial killer" film and questions the notion of how movies earn a theatrical release or are confined to the direct-to-video obscurity. If films including Jade,Copycat and Kiss the Girls managed to see life in a movie theater, Resurrection surely deserved such attention for it is far more creative than the aforementioned - all of which were worthy films.
Star Christopher Lambert returns to familiar territory, not only in working with Highlander directing mate Russell Mulcahy but also a serial killer movie (anybody see Knight Moves?). Indeed Lambert is credited with story concept as well as lead star.
This time, the serial killer is out to piece together the body of Christ from the body parts of his victims. With high caliber acting, hyper-kinetic cinematography, a hair raising storyline and special FX worthy of the names Bottin, Baker and Winston, Resurrection is without a doubt one of the best serial killers movies to come out in a long time.
