Night of the living Dead(9/10)

The horror film to end all horror films, this is Romero's best work. Imitated but never duplicated, this low budget, black and white horror film inspired endless zombie movies and even a 1990 remake by Tom Savini. Since I'm not a big fan of black and white films, my fav is Dawn Of The Dead(the sequel); it delivers a lot more humor and gore to the mix.

Still, you have to give credit where credit is due and in this case NOTLD is an absolute classic. Romero made it on an extremely low budget and enlisted a virtually unknown cast. The result is a film about radiation bringing dead bodies back to life, making them walk the earth and eating humans along the way. All the zombie cliches are here: zombies must be shot in the head to be killed, if you're bitten by one then you become one, etc.

A bunch of different people secluded in a farmhouse fight off the hungry zombies until the dreary conclusion. Romero was way ahead of his time with this film. He even includes a strong message about close-mindedness and the panic that leads humans to stranger acts than any monster. A classic.

Dawn of the Dead(9/10)
I'll admit it. Being the hardcore horror film addict that I am, I am totally disgusted with today's lame excuses for "scary" movies.Urban Legends,I Know What You Did Last Summer; they can all go to horror movie hell, for all I care. The real gems come from a long time ago.

Dawn of the Dead, the sequel to George A. Romero's classic Night of the Living Dead, is considered a cult film - and with good reason. It combines all of the classic elements needed for a good horror flick: suspense, action, drama (but just a little) and of course, hard core gore.

Numerous scenes in this awesome film will turn many a weak stomach. The over-exaggerated comic book color makes this one a unique experience. The songs in the film are cheesy, yet spooky in their own way. The overall idea is frightening; four people are trapped in a mall full of cannibalistic zombies.

Make up artist Tom Savini did the effects and even stars in a minor role. The makeup is mediocre but gets its point across, if you know what I mean. This is definitely, in my opinion, the best horror film of all time. It will have you thinking about it for days afterwards, and well, that's what these movies are supposed to do.

The only flaw is that it lacks the gritty authenticity of the original, but it sure does make up for that in every other aspect. Rent this one and if you're disappointed, it's probably already too late to help you.

Day of the Dead(8/10)
The zombie originator himself, George A. Romero, returns with another necessary third installment in the dead series. I've read the numerous reviews and comments putting this one down, saying that it was a clumsy and unnecessary conclusion to the first two. What do they know? They just don't make gore films like this anymore. The story concerns the surviving few of the zombie epidemic which has been well underway for quite some time now. The survivors dwell in an underground army bunker and consist of three scientists, a helicopter pilot, a communications expert and numerous unlikable soldiers, especially Steele and Commander Rhodes.

The scientists are conducting silly experiments on zombies to figure out how to control them. The head scientist Logan, or "Frankenstein" as he's known in the film, is a real nutcase who starts using military corpses for his experiments. Logan develops a very bizarre relationship with a zombie he names Bub. Once commander Rhodes finds out about the experiments in using his soldiers, he takes matters into his own hands.

Lots of bickering in this between the female scientist and the very unlikeable military commander concerning their research and her male companion, who basically signs everyone's death warrant at the end of the film. What I really loved about this was Savini's gruesome and ghastly make-up effects, which are some of his best he's ever done

Personally I canīt wait for the fourth Dead film and I hope Romero still has it in him

Night of the Living Dead-10/10, 2nd favorite horror movie, 9th favorite movie.

Dawn of the Dead-9/10 on my top 20. DVD is pretty cool, but it needs more extras.

Day of the Dead-7/10 worth seeing, especially because it is part of the Dead trilogy, but not nearly as good as the first two.
