I read somewhere that Darren Aronfsky, director of Requiem for a Dream and Pi was being considered to direct the next Batman movie. Does anyone know if this is true, and if not who is being considered?

I think he would make an excellent choice and give the series a 180 more so in the direction of the original...much more dark and mysterious. Any thoughts?

If it's true, it will make for an awesome movie.

It's going to be based on the graphic novel from the 80's - BATMAN:YEAR ONE. It's written by Batman comic writer Frank Miller.

Now - Who the hell is going to play him?

On IMDB it said that Joel Schumacher will be directing the film and that Darren Aronofsky will write the script.

i have to say this because i have to vent schumacher should just leave the batman series. after batman forever he should have just left but no he has to make stupid idiots out of batmans great villians. i would like to see aronofsky direct A batman movie ither another sequal or year one or better yet have aronofsky direct the nex batman sequal with the villian scarecrow in it that s.o.b. would probobly do wounders for that movie and have tim burtan do :year one that would be cool also. and joel should just be handed his papers and dismissed.

i think almost PERFECT casting has been done for the VILLAINS in the past, and it seems damn near everyone is disappointed in the whole BATMAN series overall..why is this??i think the original BATMAN was solid, but nothing phenomenal..the second one SUCKED< but the THIRD was a tad better, and we all must agree that the fourth wasnt that great either..

great casts, great acting, and a big budget, so where exactly did these films go wrong??

isnt HOWARD STERN slated to play the SCARECROW??

Have you truly listened to the writing for the movies...particularly the last one. It was simply filled with bad and I mean bad one liners.
I got nothing against Arnie but put him in a giant ice costume and trying to give him some serious background character development just doesn't work for me.
Agreed Batman movies are supposed to be about good old' fashion fun but when the screenwriting is so bad not even the best actors can save the movie.

I would like to address all people in this thread that said that "Batman and Robin" was a bad movie, or that it "sucked." Shame on you!! This movie did not suck... it was the biggest, fattest, nastiest celluloid turd to ever be shat out of Hollywood. The sheer audacity in assuming that even on some infantile level I would find this piece of crizzap to be amusing is a stinging slap of an insult to the folds of my gray matter, and all parties associated with this movie deserve to be slow-roasted over a hot spit while girls in glass skirts ensure that my beer mug stays full.

The latest project on the Batman drawing board (according to rumor I've heard, at least) is an adaptation of Batman: Year One, one of the finest graphic novels I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I've also heard nasty rumor that George Clooney was asked to reprise his Batman role. Not only should Batman be younger than Sir Clooney, but Clooney has a very narrow range of characters he is able to play, and Batman is not one of them. Be afraid...

I admit I have mixed feelings about Aronofsky directing it. He'd do a great job, I have no doubt of that, but...should he do "commercial" films? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif

Obviously. He's writing the movie so I don't know why he wouldn't direct it.

This might not be related, but I think the next Batman pic is going through. Recently "Onstar" announced a contest where a lucky customer might get a chance for a walk-on part in the next pic. "Walk-on" usually means a live action film, and this being the only live action made at the moment, I think it's Aronofsky's project. Oh well, I hope that made some sense. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif
