war, war is stupid,
and people are stupid,
and love means nothing
in some strange quarters...
who would've thought that a trashy 80s english pop star could so easily sum up a quasi-yugoslavian fin de siècle film?

saviour pokes its sticky beak into the pointless destruction, horror and hate of war and terrorism, most especially in the croat/muslim/serb conflict within bosnia. there are no good guys, no bad guys, just human beings caught up in a horror over which they have no control. war is a beast which brings out the beast in men. isn't it funny how women never seem to start wars, let alone commit atrocities like rape or ethnic cleansing (a fancy shmancy new name for genocide).

dennis is surprisingly subtle in this film, he's also very solid, very earthy and very disturbed. natasa is strikingly beautiful and achingly numb(like my ass when i have sat on a cold wall for three hours). they play off each other like two tired, old boxers going the last few rounds in a hopeless bout which neither can win.

this is an agonisingly intense film that portrays the inhumanity of war (especially a racial war) in ways which the rest of the world hasn't seen on cnn or itv. there are no generals, no admirals, no great victories or grand defeats, just people struggling to stay alive. your friend bitch tits recommends this flick to everyone.

i would give this film 9/10 almost as good as platoon!

"best gritty war film since platoon"
in my p.o this is a top film
