She's The One (1996)
Director: Edward Burns
Starring: Edward Burns, Cameron Diaz, Mike McGlone, Jennifer Aniston

Definitely not the most original or surprising movie to come to us from good ol' Irish New Yorker, Ed Burns, especially since his first film THE BROTHERS MCCMULLEN is essentially about the same things, but a pretty entertaining and funny film nonetheless.

I think the biggest reason that I didn't mind this movie so much (okay, so I kinda liked it too!) was because I could relate to it gangbusters. It's basically about a bunch of 20-somethings looking for love in all the wrong places, finding love, losing love, having sex, losing sex, etc and so forth.

I appreciated most of its characters, all of whom seemed pretty well drawn out, and especially liked the way that they all "came together" at some point or another in the movie. I also appreciated the surprises tossed into the film here and there, and the many funny one-liners and straight dialogue.

Acting-wise, I can't say that Burns' girlfriend at the time, Maxine Bahns, impressed me any more than she did in THE BROTHERS MCCMULLEN (which wasn't much!) and Mike McGlone (another MCCMULLEN alum) was also on and off. Everyone else was pretty solid across the board, especially Burns, who continued his usual "casual" guy acting routine, John Mahoney, who played the ideal Irish dad, and Cameron Diaz, who was actually able to wire some humanity through her "beeyatch"-type character.

On the whole, this film gave me a few laughs, a couple of moments of pause and an overall "easy" night at the house. Ninety minutes and nobody got hurt...just the way I like it. Now where's the beer again...?

I enjoyed this movie too but it's been awhile since I've seen it. I think I might rent it again soon because I don't remember much from it, only a couple scenes... So for now I'll go with a 7/10 also...

I loved this movie, this is one of the few comedy/romance mixes i like...all acting is great and really cant say that much about it besides its a must see if u like the genre or any of the actors/actresses in the film.

Since I hadn't seen it in awhile I rented it last week and it was really good. The cast was great and I love "Walls" by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Anyway, I'll still go with the 7/10. Since I liked this movie so much I'm thinking about checking out THE BROTHERS McMULLEN (spelling?). Has anyone seen it? Is it any good?

Same here, Mike. I haven't seen this movie in ages and watched it twice and remember enjoying it. I thought it worked better as a romance than a comedy. Overall, it was a neat teen comedy that if you don't expect too much from it, you'll have a good time. I rated it 7/10, but like you Mike, I might have to rent it again.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything but the movie isn't a teen comedy. Are you thinking about She's All That?

I considered She's The One to be most enjoyed by teen audiences. Not a teen movie exactly, but teen audiences will appreciate it more.

I loved "The Brothers McMullen", but I really didn't like this one too much. It was too.. I don't know... unlikely? Boring? I mean, Ed Burns is cool as far as i am concerned but this flick is sort of way too so-so. Anyhow...
