If you haven't, I suggest you check out the trailer for Cameron Crowe's upcoming Vanilla Sky. Considering that the quality of films will be worse this year than they were last year. There are many films coming out that look good, like Lord of the Rings, Ocean's 11, Ali, and Harry Potter. But out of all the trailers, this is definitely the best of the bunch.
I love the way how the trailer begins with the "ITS GOING TO BE ANOTHER HOLLYWOOD ROMANCE" type thing going on, then by the second half, turns incredibly dark, and some of the shots and scenes they show are very cool indeed. Like Cruise running through Times Square in New York with NOBODY around, freaky. One of the most original trailers I have seen, even though it was not that great of quality in terms of picture.
It appears that Vanilla Sky will be the best movie to come out this year. Gangs of New York has moved, can't do anything about that. A Beautiful Mind does not look very good, and a bit formulaic trailer, which doesn't make the films look interesting at all, even though it has the PG13 rating.
I haven't seen the trailer for The Majestic yet, but it is either Vanilla Sky or The Majestic in the Best Picture race next year (my prediction).
The film looks to be rated R, so I'll most likely have to sneak into it, but I'm really excited about this film, and I have to wait two months. UHHH, the suspense is killing me. But I gotta remember not to get too excited because there is always the chance it could be disappointing... but not with Cameron Crowe.

You don't have to wait to see this flick. Just go to your local video store and rent OPEN YOUR EYES. It's the original spanish film that Cameron Crowe remade as Vanilla Sky. It even stars Penelope Cruz. It's a great movie and I'm not gonna waste my time with the remake.

Yeah flatliner,I think I'll do the same. After all,Ms.Cruz aint takin off her clothes for the remake if she did the same in the original.
i've got a question. how big is jason lee's part in this film.I heard that he plays cruise's best friend. can anybody tell me how much he's in the flick?

Is Open Your Eyes in Spanish, English, or Spanish with subtitles? Because if it's only in Spanish, then I don't wanna see it. By the way, this movie looks awesome and I am predicting that Tom Cruise will finally get that Best Actor Oscar that he's wanted for the longest time.
Just saw the trailer, i liked it, it looks to be very good.
What was the song playing at the beginning of the trailer? Was it Radiohead, and if so, what song?

Just saw the trailer, this film will rock! It looks like the movie has 3 parts to it: The first is Tom Cruise living happily as an upscale Manhattanite, the second when he meets Penelope, the third after the car crash. This will be one wild romantic drama! Also I love the music in it, fits the film very well.

Yeah, it looks very good. The trailer was very well made and the footage looks cool. The original film is highly praised and reportedly a very original mindfuck-type of film... So it might not make much money despite the appealing cast, since it's apparently a bit confusing and surrealistic. Sounds like my kind of film.

BTW, I really hope that the big twist of the film won't be ruined in the media as usual... I already have an idea how it's gonna be like since the storyline has been referred to certain books of a certain author... http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif Then again, I know that the film is not built entirely on it's twist.

Usually american remakes suck but this one should be good and ti's not 'cause of Tom Cruise, it's 'cause Cameron Crowe. I'm looking forward this movie.

Just revisited this trailer tonight - and was pausing some of the quick shots at the end seeing if I could figure anything out.
Anyway, the movie takes place in New York and someone is obviously jumping off of the top of the WTC tower at the end of the trailer. I wonder if they will change this. The scene is not far off from the look of this hoax photo:

On the boards, Ive heard a lot of disinterest toward this movie. I still haven't really seen any reasons why this movie will be a flop. Personally, its something that Ive wanted to see since Ive heard the project was started.
My initial reason for having interest in the film was the talent involved. Tom Cruise and Cameron Crowe are very, very talented at what they do. Many believe that Cruise is overrated, but I do not think so. He has done some pretty good work.
After hearing that this was a remake of the movie "Open Your Eyes", something else came to my attention. The movie, which got many, many good ratings on www.rottentomatoes.com, (http://www.rottentomatoes.com,) was directed by Alejandro Amenabar (the same director who made "the Others").
Cruise, Amenabar, Crowe? I think those names are enough evidence that this could be an intriguing film.

Cruise is producing the movie and he wanted Alejandro Anemabar to direct it but the guy didn't want to direct the same movie twice and so he chose The Others (also produced by Cruise) then Tom came to Cameron Crowe but Crowe accepted only if he could rewrite the movie, so he did.
I think it will be great.
Vanilla Sky sounds good
