Yup, it's that ballet kid that you all think is homosexual - well get it right and watch the film!
Set in the North East of England, we are taken through Billy's world, living with his frustrated widowed dad, a grandma near the end of her life and his violent brother during the 1980's minor's strike.
What's so great about this film is Billy's passion to become a ballet dancer despite all that comes his way from family and friends. The dance sequences are so frenetic, you forget that it's actually ballet. And the minor's strike subplot is an ingenious contrast to Billy's gift for ballet.
Stop judging this film until you've seen it. This is true British cinema at its best.
