I loved "Shaft" was a so good. It had good action. Wondeful acting by a good cast. The laughs are non-stop. I love this movie. It is a must see. The DVD is also good!

Are you talkin' bout the original or the remake?

I hope he ain't talking about the remake because even though Samuel L. Jackson is cool as hell in it and Christian Bale is also really good (it is a far more interesting character and performance than his work in the vastly overrated bore American Psycho), I found the movie to be favorless and dull.

Gotta admit that I dug the remake ( or, to quote Jackson himself "Update" ).
But I haven't seen the original yet, I only saw SHAFT IN AFRICA and the TV series that the movie spinned off. Cool stuff all around though. I've been hearing that the orignal was a real breakthrough for black people in cinema, seeing people of their skin as winners on the screen and stuff. So from THAT point of view, I understand that people think the remake sucks because in terms of impact, it would be doomed before even being filmed. On the other hand, I'm white so I can't really relate to all the things that came with the original for black people. Gotta see it anyway.
To the Update, yeah, I like it. I even liked Busta Rhymes, he was an amusing sidekick ( I'm not too happy with seeing him in HALLOWEEN 8, though ). These are lean days for cool action flickx, where have the Leathal Weapon and the Die Hard series gone???? It's refreshing to see a pure "guns and persecutions" ( quote by Jackson again ) movie like SHAFT is. Shoot me, I like it. 7/10
