Let me just say that Quenten Tarentino is very gifted filmmaker. He is responsible for the masterpieces Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Then in 1997 his third film was released. While not as great as his 2 previous films, Jackie Brown still is great entertainment. Jackie Brown is missing something, that's why I gave it a 9. It does not have the violence that Tarantino is known for, but it does have his other trademark, profanity. All in all Jackie Brown is a great film.

It's a decent effort, but disappointing after "Pulp Fiction" and "Reservoir Dogs." The film is overlong and unevenly paced, although it has its moments of inspiration, like the part where Sam Jackson tries to get that guy to climb in the trunk, very witty. The ending was also very well done. Jackson is good, but not as engaging as he was in PF. Robert DeNiro is okay but is wasted. However, Pam Grier is terrific.

jeez, I never really liked this film. Tarantino hasn't really impressed me much, sure he can do great dialogue but he's still a whimpy bitch. Plus I'm surprised he never ripped off anything for this movie....whoa!
Excellent film. Jackson and De Niro are great and Quenten Tarentino is a very talented filmmaker. 9/10

I don't know about the rest of you, but Jackie Brown bored the hell out of me. With the exception of Jackson's character (Sammy did a fantastic job, as always) I didn't give a crap about any the people in this movie in any fashion, which meant it was hard for me to get to involved in the plot. I seem to be ragging on a lot of folk's favorite movies around here lately, but there's no accounting for taste, right? 4/10, better luck next time Quentin.

Well I enjoyed it(but I kinda lost interest after awhile). Tarantino does another great job but not his best!

Jackie Brown is indeed a good film. But not the same calibur as QT's other works.
I think, sometimes, the reason people don't like this movie is because they're expecting Pulp Fiction 2. Well, I wasn't. I was expecting that normal, QT, gritty, witty, and daring. Jackie Brown was some of that.
The main thing Jackie B. was missing was the "make you watch" attitude that Pulp had, and Reservoir Dogs had it, a little. This movie is entertaining, yes, funny, yes, but you're not drawn and mezmerised to the screen like you are in Pulp Fiction.
Besides that, it's pure QT. Witty, funny characters, funny situations, great dialogue, and Sam Jackson.
Although not a masterpiece, a good movie.

Jackie Brown is 'mature' Quentin and i think the movie is very very underrated. Wonderful characters, music, story, acting, direction = everything is top notch plus it opened up my eyes on great actors like Pam Grier and Robert Forster.

I just couldn't get into it. The performances and writing were good, but it bored the living shit out of me.

For me this is the most well rounded of Tarantino's work.....thoughtful camera set ups, great coverage and cinematography plus a multi tiered script that actually contains genuine emotion rather than comic book charecters bought to life.
Dont get me wrong I adore his other 2 films as well but this is just a notch above Pulp Fiction for me.....although Reservoir Dogs is still my fave I really consider Jackie Brown to be his best film...
Tarantino draws out the actors well to allow them to create multi dimensional charecters that are believable and entertaining. The performances are at the forefront and are ably supported by the script- with his other films the script is the star and the actors are charectures who are easy sterotypes to identify with.
Definetly under appreciated and also undoubtedly Tarantino's most mature work thus far.
