STARRING:
Jim Carrey
Taylor Momsen
Molly Shannon
Christine Baranski
and Anthony Hopkins as The Narrator
I got my Entertainment Weekly this week and saw their "F" grade for The Grinch but even that didn't stop me from renting it. I was curious and I needed a movie to get me in the mood for Christmas. So did it work?
Well, no, it didn't!!!
Don't get me wrong, it really wasn't too bad but it's definately not a classic and I was disappointed.
I didn't enjoy Jim Carrey at all in this movie. Holy Shit, he completely OVER ACTED, his performance was WAY over the top and he actually annoyed the hell out of me. It may not be his fault exactly, that's probably what the script called for, but it still got on my nerves. They definately did a good job at making me hate the Grinch, and I didn't feel sorry for him. And in the end when he was supposed to have changed he still kind of acted like an ass hole and still annoyed me. Another problem with the movie was the Who's, OH MY GOD did they look like shit, I hated the way they looked, they were so ugly. Why couldn't they just look like normal people? And the way some of them acted also got on my nerves.
So, what did I like about the movie? Well, I loved Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen), she was so cute and I loved when she was singing "Where Are You Christmas," how cute was that? I also loved the look of the movie, it looked really cool. And even though Molly Shannon and Christine Baranski didn't have much to do in the movie, just them being there was good enough for me, I like them both.
Now, despite a few little boring parts and Jim Carrey acting like an idiot, the movie was interesting enough to watch and to recommend. It didn't really get me into the Christmas spirit or anything, but it was still a decent flick.
Grade: 6/10
