Archy is a track star who lives in the Australian outback with his Uncle. He aspires to be a great soldier in WW1 to earn respect like he has in athletics but his uncle objects. During a running competion he meets another runner,Frank Dunne, and they soon become friends. Archy joins Frank on a trip to the big city to join up with the millatary.Frank Dunne is less enthusiastic about the army but eventually joins at the nagging of Archy. The two meet up again a half a world away in Egypt for training and utimatly at the fated battle of Gallipoli. For all of you uniformed, Gallipoli was a penisula near the dardinalles strait that the allies planned on taking in WW1 because it would be a route to get to Germany.Soldiers comprised of mostly New Zelanders and Austrailans landed on the beachfront in 1915 and suffered heavy losses at the hands of the Turks.

Alot of people say this is an anti-war film, and I agree. By the time the last freeze frame image appears, I think the film has got it's point off about the stupidity of war and the false ideals that it places on young men. But it's about more than that. It's about friendship and finding ones place in life(and death). I guarantee that the final frozen image will stick with you long after the credits roll. Damn good film, go watch it!
