I have heard many people say this movie sucks and Julia Roberts didn't deserve the Oscar and when she won she acted so fake. When I hear that shit I get really pissed. Erin Brockovich was an AMAZING movie and Julia Roberts gave a GREAT performance. This was the best movie of 2000 in my opinion and one of my favorites of all time. Sometimes the movie was absolutely hilarious, sometimes it was sad, but when it was all over I wanted to stand up and cheer. I saw this movie in theaters and it blew me away, Julia Roberts gave the best performance so far of her career and I loved the raw, gritty look of the film, it looked kind of like an independent film.

Erin Brockovich is one of the best feel good movies I've ever seen and the best "based on a true story" movie I've seen. I really don't have a single bad thing to say about it. I've seen this movie many times and it will always be one of my favorites. This movie should have gotten the Best Picture Oscar instead of Gladiator, I haven't seen that movie so I can't say it's bad, but I know for a fact it didn't deserve it as much as Erin Brockovich did.

The lines Julia Roberts said were great and left me talking about them long after seeing the movie.

Kurt Potter: Wha... how did you do this?

Erin Brockovich: Well, um, seeing as how I have no brains or legal expertise, and Ed here was losing all faith in the system, am I right?

Ed Masry: Oh, yeah, completely. No faith, no faith...

Erin Brockovich: I just went out there and performed sexual favors. Six hundred and thirty-four blow jobs in five days... I'm really quite tired.

YOU GO GIRL!

Julia Roberts gave such a GREAT and POWERFUL performance and if you don't think she can act then I guess NOBODY can act. Albert Finney also did a really good job as Ed Masry.

WHAT AN AMAZING FILM! BIG THUMBS UP!

Grade: 10/10

Mike, just one question. Is there a movie that any movie that you didn't like? Don't take that as a rip or anything, it's just that I don't ever recall you giving less than a seven to any movie (and the sevens are pretty rare).

Of course there's movies that I don't like, I guess you just haven't been reading all my reviews. I know I like a lot of movies but hey, I can't help what I like. Here are some this year that I gave below a 7/10:

TOMB RAIDER - 4/10 or D+
JURASSIC PARK 3 - 4/10 or D+
HEAD OVER HEELS - 4/10 or D+
DRIVEN - 5/10 or C-
GET OVER IT - 5/10 or C
ONE NIGHT AT McCOOL'S - 5/10 or C
THE ANIMAL - 5/10 or C
MONKEYBONE - 5/10 or C
THE GRINCH (I know it's a 2000 movie) - 6/10 or C+/B-
ANTITRUST - 6/10 or C+
DOWN TO EARTH - 6/10 or C+
THE MUMMY RETURNS - 6/10 or C+
JUST VISITING - 6/10 or B-
BEAUTIFUL CREATURES - 6/10 or B-

Those are a few that I've given less than 7/10 to. What can I say, I like a lot of movies.

Well, that shut me up. Nice call on Tomb Raider, BTW.

Now, Mike, I'll put you to a test. Have you ever graded anything lower than 4/10?

As for the movie, I think it fell short of a 10/10, but I agree that bashing it is completely the wrong way to go. The movie is excellently executed and brilliantly directed and the script is stunning. Julia Roberts was absolutely phenomenal and deserved her Oscar, right down to her Golden speech. All I can say is this movie is one great experience, that won't be loved by everyone, but it certainly deserves to be enjoyed and viewed. 9/10

That depends, do you mean have I EVER graded anything lower than a 4/10 or have I graded anything lower than a 4/10 this year?

YES, I have graded a lot of movies lower than a 4/10 but NO, none yet this year. I still have a lot of this years movies to see though.

Sorry Mike, but I`m from the group which claims the movie is nearly awful, didn`t deserve any special attention(at least not that BIG), and Julia Roberts definitely didn`t deserve the Oscar this year. But that`s just me.My score 5.4/10.

I'm too lazy to type in something new, so I'll just repeat what I said in another topic:

One of the most overrated films of the decade. It was very interesting at first, but I got tired of it; the film goes on for far too long. Still, Julia Roberts was terrific, she shows what a good actress she is. In fact, she makes it worth watching, despite its shortcomings.

6/10.

What can I say that urbanlegend23 didn't already say? To me, this is the perfect review of Erin Brockovich, right up to the 9/10 rating. The only thing he left out was Albert Finney, who does an excellent job in his supporting role (not as good as Julia, of course) and deserved his Oscar nomination.

Erin Brockovich is a great movie. Julia Roberts at her best! 9/10

Please do not offend the Universe by calling Julia Roberts an actress.
"Social" movies belong to TV.
Real Erin is kinda cute...
