Spiders - 5/10

[Horror whore]

I rented this yesterday expecting good old fun time watching the movie. Instead I got an average tale full of Spiders, crazy people, alien talk, space ships, gore, terrible FX, bad acting RAZZIE worthy dialogue. I could tell the director was going for a 50's horror feel, he didn't succeed. The acting was sooooo bad I wanted to laugh. The main character cannot carry a movie and should stick to infomercials.... There are some extremely far-fetched scenes in here. How people can sneak into a high tech goverment base is still beyond me. The special effects in Spiders are hilarious!! I loved the space shuttle explode, top notch..(Sarcasm) But I'm telling you the bad stuff. There are some positive things like....The gore, there's plenty to go around. I really liked that guy's bubbly face. Some of the spider sequences are pretty cool. (Especially the last one)
Overall Spiders is a decent straight to video "Monster" movie.

Yeah...I pretty much agree with the hooker's review here except I think a 5 is definitely too high. I found absolutely no positive things about this movie. Now...I like to give my brain a rest at times so I'm one who can enjoy B movies and a slice of cheese every now and then. Therefore I rented this expecting maybe some of that kind of silly stuff. But I was actually surprised at how bad everything was. Everything! I mean I went into this expecting nothing and I was still shocked by what I actually got. The effects were horrendous (did the Blair Witch Project have a bigger budget??), the dialogue hurtful to one's ears and the acting very embarrassing for all involved.

Bad in every sense of the word. And I didn't find it to be a "so bad it's funny" movie. Just plain bad. The clerk at the video store should offer aspirin to those who rent it.
