This is a unique film. Director Darren Aronofsky has that rare talent that makes him one of the best directors of our time. The plot is about a man called Max, a mathematic genious trying to find a pattern in the stock market so he could predict its changes. He has these really strong migrene attacks, and the viewer can almost feel the headaches himself. Aronofsky's editing is wild and fast, and the camera spins wildly, and he isn't afraid to use any experimental techniques or angles, this could be annoying in the wrong hands, but Aronofsky is a master at this. Pi shows that a film doesn't necessaryly need a huge budjet, or even colours to be a really thrilling and entertaining package, that works on many levels, and as it ends at about 80 minutes, you're left to want more. Still, maybe it couldn't have held on to you much longer, since the pace is rather fast. It leaves you with a feeling of satisfaction, and leaves you thinking afterwards. And you don't even have to be good in maths to understand this one.

4/5
