Saw this movie last week and can't get it out of my head. I thought it was a fantastic satire on just how pathetic Reality TV is becoming. It was also one of the funniest films I have seen in years, but black as midnight.

What are your thoughts?

SERIES 7: THE CONTENDERS (2001)

I watched this yesterday and I must say, I really enjoyed it. It was funny and highly entertaining. I wasn't bored once and the movie was over before I knew it. I'm glad I finally got around to checking it out. I had rented it shortly after it came out on video, but I didn't get the chance to watch it then and had to take it back. I'm glad I decided to check it out again. A solid satire!

i love how dark this movie was - it was so over the top it was kind of like a warning towards the future, kind of like saying that this is what it might come down to in the future of reality TV.

I kind of disliked the ending, but the highlights of the film for me were definately the demise of a 'younger' character in the mall and the "Love will tear us apart" montage

i really liked it, the acting is excellent and the camera work is also very good

i liked how it looked like it could actually be a reality television show and the ending was excellent IMO

I fucking LOVED this movie.

I really, really enjoyed the big "up yours" it gave the fuckload of "reality" shows polluting the TV networks, and also liked the dark comedy (I'm talking REALLY dark here). The TV show style was also very convicing - if I had never heard of this movie and flipped on a TV channel playing it, I would think it's really happening. The ending could've been better, but the last frame had me laughing for the next ten minutes for some reason.

Solid flick. 9/10

***Mild Spoilers***

I saw this movie in the theater and it was clearly ahead of its time. I really liked that there was no introduction, and it just threw you right into the alternate reality of this TV series. Every performance from the actual participants to the fringe characters (like the teenager's parents) was spot on. The subject matter was handled with humor as well as insight, and you definitely come away with a lot to talk about...

My big gripe with the movie: The ridiculous romance towards the end. It grinded the movie to a halt and it completely changed the mood of the film. It was the very definition of extraneous.
