First, I want to tell that I haven`t read any of the books about Harry Potter.
Second, I`ve never liked the movies from that type (for example, I can honestly say that I didn`t watch Episode I:Phantom menace, because I really dislike when people turn cinema into commercial things like toys, t-shirts, and SO MUCH advertisment for one single movie). So generally, I really don`t like trilogies, the toys from them and so on (I think you grabbed the picture).
Last night I saw the movie.I really didn`t expected almost anything, but my friends almost dragged me to it.
So, I can say that was one of the cutest movies I`ve ever seen in my life.It was so harmless, and so funny and light and relaxing, it was like a bed with many pillows in it.The feeling was like when you`re waking up after a sweet dream. The movie was simply sweet.
I`ve always disliked Chris Colombos` movies, and I think all of them are quite "sugar"-like, too much sugar. But in this one, the sugar was on its place. Its right place.
The music was enchanting, and all the masterfully shot scenes was great.Especially that scene in the forest with the dead unicorn was simply adorable and so terrific.
The three kids were acting very well, and Daniel Radcliffe is so charming and sweet.Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were very cute also and did a great job.
As a final word I`ll say I was a great sceptic about the movie, but I haven`t been so pleasurely surprised by a movie for a long time.I`m looking forward to the next series (I even can`t believe I said it) http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I just recently decided to get into the Harry Potter craze; I've read the first three and I'm reading the fourth now. Not only am I reading the books, but have watched the first two movies also.

While the first movie was alright, I didn't think it captured the book very well. It simply went from scene to scene without much thought to detail or character, not even the lead character. I'm guessing the lack of much of a budget contributed to a lot of it. I think it's also very obvious that the movie was targeted to a younger crowd, of which I am not a member. It's not a bad movie, but the book was a lot better.

This franchise's adaptions started out pretty crap.

A great beginning to a great franchise full of plenty of magic (pun intended.) 10/10
